Chevy Chase recalls the precise moment he hit bottom. It happened in front of unflinching television cameras, as he sat alone on a dais with his eyes masked by tinted sunglasses. Offered a hundred grand by Comedy Central to do a televised Friars Club roast, Chase was introduced to his place in history. And it was brutal.

I think Chase hit bottom a good twenty years before that.
“Everyone agreed without even having to think about it: Chevy Chase was a bastard.”
We take exceptional umbrage and strongly resemble that comment.

Chase...Chase. Isn’t he the guy who used to fall down a lot?
The Freep desperately needs a section for “Entertainment”.
Sorry Sparky.
The only thing that Chevy was funny in was Caddyshack, National Lampoon Vacation, European Vacation and Christmas Vacation..
Yes, but has he really hit bottom?!
Chevy Chase was thoroughly despised by those he worked with on SNL precisely because he was a first class @sshole.
I’d say he hit rock bottom on the day he was born and never left.
Didn’t the descent begin about 5 minutes after they wrapped filming on ‘Foul Play’?
Fletch.
Chevy’s still shopping “National Lampoon’s Martian Vacation 8 Part Deux” to the Hollywood studios.
Pathetic sap.
Boy, that article was torture enough for the man.
Whatever. IMO, “Christmas Vacation” is still the best Christmas movie ever, even better than the boring “It’s a Wonderful Life.” And CC was brilliant as Clark Griswold.
Every now and again, I read some self-pitying dreck from Chase and some willing reporter who wants to get his story. This guy has every excuse in the book for why he “fell”. He’s just another whiner with a stack of cash and an occasional smattering of ink.
Take your yard full of barnyard animals, your “I call Bill Clinton Bill” attitude and your constant pity party extravaganza and get stuffed, Chevy. You have always been on my “why is this doffus famous?!” list.
APf
Chase was good on SNL and his movies in the early 80s, I liked him then.
I always thought we was hilarious, and I still do.
I still whisper “Be the ball, Billy” every time I tee off.
The actor who played Spaulding in Caddyshack said he was a bleephole the wholetime they shot the film. Sadly, Rodney wasn’t much better. The best guy to be around he said was Ted Knight.
Amen brother ... Fletch is my favorite comedy of all time.
Evidently he has not learned very much for hi downfall.
The sorry butt hole is still attacking 50% of his audience calling us in the hinterlands stupid for supporting McCain.
