Ted Nugent: Liberalism is America's curse
The Waco Tribune-Herald ^ | 9/14/2008 | Ted Nugent

Posted on 09/15/2008 6:41:17 AM PDT by LA Woman3

The 1960s marked the rise of hedonism — the "if it feels good, do it" generation.

A cursory review of what came afterward tells a haunting story.

Teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, school dropout rates, drug use, divorce, youth crime and other social maladies escalated.

We poisoned our culture and society when we began caring more about ourselves than the collective good of society at large. Values, mores and standards—the very things that make a just and civil society—were carelessly tossed aside in favor of reckless abandon.

There are consequences for actions, something liberals and the hippies carelessly ignored at America's peril.

No surprise, guys

Now we read about kids shooting up schools and malls. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

My suspicions are that this will get worse. More kids will die. One of the rock-solid, irrefutable reasons for my suspicion is that schools and shopping centers and the worst crime-infested cities are gun-free zones — another empty-headed liberal idea that has guaranteed more victims.

In those early days before gun bans went into effect, you could walk into a hardware store and buy any kind of gun and ammo you wanted.

Kids brought all kinds of guns and knives to school for after-school hunting, competition and casual recreational purposes. No problem.

School and shopping center shootings were unheard of.

The poisonous seeds of "feel good" denial took root in the Sixties, along with Dr. Spock's "hands-off" new age parenting.

The far left has given gave birth to every social and cultural malady plaguing America today.

Obama pulls out his smoke and mirrors for "change," when in fact he wants more of the very meddling government that has ruined everything it has gotten its greedy, unaccountable hands on.

I love the Motor City Madman.

Nice to see a patriot emerge from the rock and roll business, for a change.

I have no doubt that Ted was a giddy as a school girl when McCain announced her as his running mate.

Does Ted still live in Michigan? I figured he moved to LA where they have winning college football teams.

I think he lives up the road from President Bush in Texas. He did when he had his “Surviving Ted” series.

It’s not just the hedonism,

but the removal of “anti-hedonism”,

kicking God out of the public discourse, removing discussion of morals from schools, etc.

The wicked don’t want to be reminded of their sin, and will viciously attack anything that reminds them of it.

Ted may be a patriot, but I absolutely LOL when I read a quote from Ted “The 1960s marked the rise of hedonism — the “if it feels good, do it” generation.”.

A cursory glance at the lyrics Ted sang then and now would reflect the fact that he has made a ton of money singing about ‘if it feels good, do it’. Wango Tango leaps immediately to mind.

What’s next? The surviving members of the Grateful Dead decrying how psychedelic the 60’s were?

people change

I think we can give the children of the 60s a little bit of a pass. Yes, they should have learned their lessons from history, but given American exceptionalism and the boom economy after the war, I think I can forgive them for thinking maybe, just maybe, some of the ideas might have worked. In fact, one could argue that if the ideas didn't work then - at that time and that place - then they won't work anywhere ever.

But, here we are 40 years later. There's no denying the ramifications of their policies. Anyone with the slightest bit of historical knowledge and objectivity would have to jettison those failed policies. The people who are still pushing for them today have another agenda, and it has nothing to do with good intentions.

If the Nuge had one vice, it was sex, sure. But on every other point and issue, he was as far removed from the hippy/leftist counterculture of his rock brethren as can be. No drugs, no tolerance for homosexuality, no communal hippy vegan lifestyles, etc...

And he’s repented, as far as I can see, doesn’t flaunt it or glorify his past promiscuity. Ted’s grown up and said “here’s what I did, I admit it, I am responsible”. Personal responsibility for one’s own actions is anathema to leftists.

So, I think the Grateful Dead analogy is rather unfair, honestly.
