The reader’s comments at the bottom of the article make the same point.

How come the media doesn’t ask these questions for conservative black candidates like Michael Steele or Ken Blackwell?

I don’t care why they don’t vote for Osama, as long as they don’t vote for him. Hate his suits? Think his ears are goofy? Don’t like Marxists? Whatever, just don’t pull the lever.

Exactly, I was accused of being racist because I don’t have any black friends. When I pointed out that I dated a black guy in college the response was one of semi-outrage that I would date a black guy.

Yeppers...when genuine Americans vote against changing to Chavez-style Socialism as preached by Obama, the Left will brow-beat them for being “racist.”

It’s a very convenient excuse for their failure once again to convince Americans to convert to Socialism. They failed in this mission during the Great Depression when the unions were pushing Socialism, and by the grace of God and if we teach our children and grandchildren correctly, they will keep failing.

Yes, this is so much garbage.

Can we talk about race-based voting?

The 95+% of African-Americans who voted for Obama in the primaries, and who state their intention to vote for him in the general, are NOT engaged in race-based voting?

Of COURSE they are. Or, at least a huge percentage of them are. Even among democrats alone, a “normal” distribution of voting patterns in the primaries should have reflected a rational split between Obama and Clinton among all racial and ethnic groups. But this was not the case.

Can anyone seriously dispute that the 95+% of African-Americans voting for Obama in the primaries were not voting for the color of his skin? If anyone can, they are either liars or fools.

But this conclusion does not automatically ensure that the reverse of the equation also applies. It is being assumed that those who do NOT vote for Obama are doing so for race-based reasons. This is yet another instance of racist finger-pointing by the Left.

Simply put: There is an infinite number of reasons that someone might decide not to vote for Obama. (We don’t have enough time) But there are precious few reasons to vote for him.

The African-American voting statistics from the primaries speak for themselves.

This is the real racism in voting this year.

Excuses, maybe.

But I have a feeling.

This is the reason Michelle Z. Obama is NEVER seen at her husband’s side.

There are a few just like there will be some that couldn't bring themselves to vote for a woman, a Jew or a Hispanic. To pretend otherwise is naive.

However, let's also say that if Barry was running as a conservative then voters would be voting against him on the grounds of ideology. When he runs as a liberal then it suddenly becomes about race.

Stupid liberal elitists trying to foment Race War — thinking that they, because of their exalted position, will be above the fray....

I’m sure that will be a great comfort to them as they flee their burning homes.....

I got to say I am worried about this. There is a huge undercurrent of anti-irishism is this country. If you don't think it is real, wear this anywhere in Michigan:

McCain has a real fight on his hands with this bigotry.

Liberals project this behaviour onto conservatives because Liberals tend to be far less rationally principled and do not understand why ‘anyone’ could be against the greater good of finally electing a ‘black man’ to the Presidency. Since they do not hold principled reasons to vote for BO (aside from how nice it would be to elect him) they cannot understand how some can be against his positions and intentions and capabilities in principle. We MUST be against black people since they (Liberals) are ‘for’ them... and we are not.

It’s not rational. It’s how they see the world; and they judge us through their world view.
