Republican strategists believe the nomination of John McCain, who has distanced himself from Bush, and his selection of running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a darling of the party base, plus a national focus on high gasoline prices, have begun to help Republicans claw

Can you imagine the level of depression among the DUmmies and the MSM if McCain/Palin win the election AND the Republicans take back the Congress?

I don’t think there would be enough valium in the country to meet the demand.

Maybe that 9% approval rating is finally catching up?

I've long asked what I've considered to be a very simple question:

Exactly how is it the "leading contender" for the White House comes from the same political party that controls both houses of Congress, and has a 9% approval rating?"

Seems American's are waking up to the reality of that very simple question.

And the Do Nothing Congress (DNC) sure hasn't helped Joe Six-Pack to fill up his gas tank recently.

The Democrats continued "No" to drilling, off-shore development, exploring our own resources has translated into a YES for Republican's.

I'm not surprised. I'm just wondering what took so damn' long.

The drilling issue has subsided a bit recently as gas prices dropped by 70 cents or so. Look for an “Ike Spike” in the next few weeks until refineries and offshore rigs can come back online to refocus attention on the issue.

This is beautiful mastery by McCain/Bush/Rove. The RATS started the 08 presidential run about 2 years ago. The GOP started it over 7 years ago.

I thought McCain would depress Rep turnout. Palin has reversed that by energizing the conservative base. Obama, on the other hand, could act as a drag on the ticket for Dems down ballot. This is a very unusual race, which is very volatile and unpredictable. The debates are going to be very important.

Repulican strategists ought to be running full speed against the democrat "do-nothing Congress." Half the public believes the republicans are still in charge over there.

I think that people will vote Republican downticket just in case Barry does happen to win the election .
That voting pattern would tend to subscribe to the counterbalance theory , as full Dim control would be just too extreme for the populace to swallow . There will be much fear in the voting booth .

It would be nice to at least win the House back , but it will take money and a great GOTV effort .

Did anyone watch Meet the Press this morning? Rudy Giuliani was fantastic refuting Brokaw’s innuendos, with ease, humor and truth. Thank you, Rudy!

Included with that, I believe that our people are sick and tired of the way the Democrats have lied to the people. Their lack of support for our military is a big one on the minds of the people and they are tired of it. The giving away of the American treasure to other countries when our own people are hurting. Republicans bear some of the blame for this but it looks as though Republicans are waking up to the demands of the people. The American people are wanting our country to return to its roots. They are tired of dealing with the middle east and their threats and watching the Democrats give in to their demands. Americans know that we can’t help other people unless we help ourselves first. They are tired of having to borrow money from other countries just to give it away to countries like Africa, when they won’t help themselves. Tired of paying the middle east for its oil when we have our own oil right here but the Democrats won’t produce it.

That is a substantial improvement from the double-digit disadvantage Republicans were suffering in most public polls so far this year, although the boost could prove fleeting.

TRANSLATION: The media-driven polls were skewed way in the Dems' favor all year. Now that we're getting to crunch time and will soon have real "poll numbers" to look at when people actually do that little thing called voting, the pollsters have reputations to maintain or build. So they are showing "movement" toward Republicans.
