EDITORIAL: A debate Obama cannot win
Washington Times ^ | 9/14/08 | House editorial

His record simply does not correspond to his rhetoric.

Mr. Obama's "new kind of politics" - which was based on telling the truth, being a principled politician and treating one's opponents fairly - collapsed once he secured the nomination in June. He reversed course with dizzying speed on NAFTA, FISA, public financing of campaigns, whether the D.C. gun ban was constitutional, meeting with rogue leaders without preconditions and the unity of Jerusalem. He even qualified his Iraq policy by stating it would be "refined" according to "conditions on the ground." Most recently, in light of the economic downturn, Mr. Obama stated he might reconsider implementing the tax increases in his economic plan.

Mr. Obama appeared authentic during the Democratic campaign as a liberal champion: In running to the left of Hillary Clinton, he was passionate, fiery and convincing. Yet since his mad dash to the center, he appears uncomfortable: He stammers and stutters in response to questions rather than speaking forthrightly. The polished, Ivy League-educated senator now uses "folksy" expressions. This downhome speaking manner is geared toward attracting white, blue collar voters - and is not in consonance with his impeccable oratory. He is now packaged and artificial.

Putting lipstick on Obozo

Democrats have spent weeks accusing Gov. Sarah Palin of lying about her pregnancy and accusing her daughter of lying about her pregnancy and attacking Sarah as a bad mother and comparing her to Pontius Pilate, Islamic radicals, a whip-wielding dominatrix and to "lipstick" on a pig. Now Democrats say they're ready to take the gloves off!

After a difficult week for Obama, which followed a difficult week for Obama, Reuters reports that the messiah "fired back" at John McCain with "new ads" mocking McCain as old-fashioned and "out of touch". Obama has been rattled and flustered in the weeks since "out-of-touch" McCain picked young Sarah Palin for VP, eclipsing the messiah's choice of a 66-year-old windbag (whose name escapes me) as his assistant messiah.

Obama campaign honcho David Plouffe, heralding the new ads in a memo sent to "reporters" (or, as I prefer, Democrats with press passes), wrote that "today" was a historic day -- "the first day of the rest of the campaign," in which the effete Ivy League lawyer Obama 'takes off the gloves', which makes this the fourth time this year.

Almost half the voters in a new AP poll say Hussein lacks the proper experience to be president and he now trails McCain in almost every poll despite those Greek columns erected at his Temple coronation, so now his campaign geniuses have come up with another idea -- running ads accusing McCain of not using a computer and not knowing how to e-mail. No doubt this will electrify voters! Accusing someone who can fly fighter jets of being too dumb to use a computer is a real winner.

Plouffe revealed in his memo that the reason they're going after McCain's lack of computer and typing skills is because "this election is too important and the challenges too big to spend the next 54 days talking about trivial non-issues."

But Obama's opposition researchers apparently were so deeply immersed in an even 'bigger issue' -- how long has Bristol been pregnant? -- that they missed the real reason McCain doesn't e-mail or use a keyboard: The barbaric treatment he got at the hands of his Viet Cong captors.

While Obama's oppo A-listers were busy trying to determine the size of Bristol's belly, the Drudge Report on Friday unearthed a Boston Globe article (dated March 4, 2000), which read: "McCain gets emotional at the mere mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan -- Ted Williams is his hero -- but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball." Obama is apparently too dumb to use Google.

Looking at the big picture, meandering from issue to issue aimlessly and tossing laughingly refutable charges against the wall, as Obama's doing, is what happens when your campaign is fully engaged in meltdown mode. And everything keeps backfiring. The dumb, fading celebrity says he wasn't thinking of Gov. Palin when he made his 'lipstick' remark, which got hoots and hollers from his audience. Every major newspaper had "LIPSTICK" in very bold print across its front page the morning after Palin's speech at the convention, but Obama wasn't thinking of Palin at all when he said 'lipstick'! No, no, no -- he was thinking of McCain.

(Back in May, Obambi had a sissy fit because Bush had used the word "appeasement" in a speech before the Israeli Knesset, which Obozo assumed to be an 'attack' on him, even though Bush never mentioned Obama anywhere in his speech. Obama mentioned Palin repeatedly in his speech on 'lipstick' which supposedly was not about Palin.)

At a campaign event in New Hamphire yesterday, Obama had another sissy fit, accusing McCain and Palin of 'distracting' him with lipstick. "They've been talking about lipstick and they've been talking about pigs!", screamed Obama, who can't seem to stop talking about lipstick or talking about pigs.

By week's end, Hussein's lackeys at the New York Times were hard at work investigating Beehive Beauty Shop in Wasilla, which Gov. Palin patronized for the last six years. They're carefully probing and analyzing Palin's hair locks because "hairstyles help answer the voters' throw-down question: 'Who does she think she is?'" (Joe Biden's question: 'Is that her own hair?')

Then the NYT drops this bombshell: "During Palin's appointments, Mrs. Steele [the beauty salon owner], divorced and financially stressed, confided in her client. 'Sarah was always saying that GOD WAS IN CONTROL and to HAVE FAITH THAT THERE IS A REASON FOR EVERYTHING'"!!! And, in even further horror to the NYT, Mrs. Steele said "'We would say it together.'" S c a n d a l o u s! Worse than Palin's war crimes against courageous moose.

Things lately have been going so swimmingly for McCain/Palin, even totally 'unbiased' and 'impartial' Charlie Gibson is frustrated, the poor little thing. Billed as Palin's first solo interview, Palin was so in command that by the end of the thing it looked more like Charlie Gibson's first solo interview, ever. Gibson flubbed the Bush Doctrine, blundered through Palin's past statements, and had not yet found out that Reagan won the Cold War. But! Too scripted; no foreign policy experience; a paltry two years in the current job -- but enough about Charlie Gibson.

The problem with the Democrats' lame-o 'inexperience' meme is that Palin has gobs of executive experience, in contrast to Obama, whose primary qualification for president is that he voted to stack up hospital utility rooms with dead babies who initially survived abortion. Yet another reason why Obama will be giving a concession speech next November.

Anyway, that's...
My Two Cents...

Wrong! It's backwards. He was packaged before, now his true self is showing. More so, since Sarah came on the scene exposing the real BO, he became unraveled from 'the package'.

Impeccable oratory? If it were truly him, he couldn't loose it.

I believe Obama has reached the tipping point of actually believing his rhetoric is beyond reproach and it’s elitist attitude is “coming home to roost” with the American public.

SARa Palin hasn’t helped him. His circle of friends are painting her as poor white trash. Fortunately, he has chosen to take on a street fighter with principles, morals and a love of Country.

I’d love to see a list of his PAC bundlers. The ones I know are all going to want payback IF Obama is elected.

We all need to get involved IMMEDIATELY to elect McCain/Palin and save our Country as we know it .

One of Stuttering Barry's biggest problems is that he requested private funding, after saying he was willing to take Federal Funds. What that has done is make him rely on his supporters. Turns out, his supporters are a bunch of whacked out, flagburning, bedwetting, twinkletoed lefties.

Because of that, he has to stay on the left to keep the increasingly shrinking campaign cash coming in.

Because of Sarah Palin, the McCain Campaign is flush with money to go along with the Federal matching funds. Meanwhile, Stuttering Barry's campaign team is bloated and the money is hemmhoraging.

Not here to defend the ‘Obozo’ campaign.

Palin hit the scene on Aug 29 and it was a couple of days before the anti-Palin campaign kicked in. About a week later the family bashing was drying up after much outrage. I know it seems like she’s been around for some time now, but really only a couple of weeks.

Don’t forget to include the rhinos like Noonan, Hutchison, Murphy, and their ‘conservative’ friends in that anti-Palin group also. Why give them a pass when they are the real snakes in the grass?

Obama will be wearing an earpiece 24/7 so his handlers can tell him what to say and when to say it. There’s no way they’ll let him make any more gaffes. But will the MSM mention it? Who cares if he cheats? The end justifies the means (Marxist 101). Unfortunately for Obama, even a blind man can see he’s a big phony running against honest people of integrity who care about America and put her first. Funny, the MSM hasn’t discussed or even asked Obama in their many interviews, if he’d explain a bit more about reparations to ethnic minorities (not just a big cash payment, but something more substantial, like what? Not just that vague ‘opportunities’, he’s mentioned. Be specific.)

Are we giving them New York and Alabama with Kansas thrown in for good measure? And as for that UN global poverty tax, which has been estimated would cost every US citizen, man, woman, and child, $2500 per. We’d like to know more about that before election day.

He was packaged before, now his true self is showing.

I agree, in terms of his presentation. That smooth, elevated "uniter" is really just a common, dirty, big-city pol who will say and do anything to get elected. However, I think the article's author is correct in terms of the message:

Mr. Obama appeared authentic during the Democratic campaign as a liberal champion: In running to the left of Hillary Clinton, he was passionate, fiery and convincing.

In the primaries, he was open about his convictions: He really is a Marxist. Now that he has to try to hide it, he's totally confused and nearly paralyzed.

And I'm loving it!

And as for that UN global poverty tax, which has been estimated would cost every US citizen, man, woman, and child, $2500 per. We’d like to know more about that before election day. Indeed! This is Obamas “global wealth re-allocation program”, and comes out to about $845 Billion per year. The money would go to poor nations, no strings attached - yes, especially those who dont much like us anyway. Not to mention every action we wish to take to protect ourselves will have to go through a UN / global approval process - this is also what John Kerry wanted.

Last time I checked, we down here in Alabama are solidly red (except in my town where we are burnt orange and navy blue, but that has nothing to do with politics unless you consider the Olympics in which we came in as the 14th nation in medal winners, but I digress). I expect Sarah Palin and her running mate will carry this state.

Stuttering Barry.

Uh....uh....uh...uh...

Hillary has the same kind of pattern.

Both Hillary and Barry ‘change’ the ‘dialect’ of their voice, in order to appeal to their audience (i.e. fool their audience).

John McCain, Cindy McCain,Sarah Palin, Todd Palin .... you would be lucky to get one ‘uh’ out of the group of them, in one month of public appearances. And their ‘voice’ is the same, no matter who they are speaking to.

WHY IZ DAT?

Thanks for posting this article, and your well-written retort.

I noticed it on another thread, as well, and was reminded of the period when you maintained a MY 2 CENTS website, with a Best of Freepers comments section. Just wanted to say THANKS for your work on that.

“Mr. Obama’s “new kind of politics” - which was based on telling the truth, being a principled politician and treating one’s opponents fairly....”

When asked why he had picked those three campaign directions, Obama said, “I wanted to try something new. But, I only did it once, and I didn’t inhale.”(/sarc)

In the primaries, he was open...

That were I'm at a disadvantage - I NEVER heard him - deliberately - didn't watch the primaries. First time TV came on in a loooong time was 'that' Wednesday night to hear/see Sarah. I was aware of his 'control' problem - having some check the net for rumors about him, can't use his middle name, and his mantra - if one doesn't vote for him, they are racist. Just a street thug with major control issues, IMO.

I agree how can reading a teleprompter be “impeccable oratory”. He says “uh..uh..I mean” more than an 11 year old caught in a lie. He is abrasive.

a liberal politician who will abandon all his principles

That's quite a contradiction! A liberal with principles? A principled liberal? The biggest oxymoron that could exist.

While it's true that there are many politicians who will do and say anything to get elected, it is especially true of liberals. They can't have the voters know of their true plans and so, they have to lie and promise that which for certain, the will not produce. The history of Obama is quite contrary to his promises for lower taxes and for building up our defense. In fact, there is nothing in his resume to indicate that he would be an effective executive. His history is absolutely devoid of achievements and his overall experience is the least of any person that ever ran for the presidency.

So, lying is the only way that someone like Obama can try to gain his way to power. Promises of change are hollow when his record is considered, and even when one considers the promises he's made for change, it's not change that anyone can believe in because it's change to failed policies of the past, such as when Carter was in office. Obama's economic plans are comparable to Marxism, which has never worked anywhere it's been tried.

Good riddance, Obama!

Obama is D.O.A. on 11/4.
No levelheaded American is gonna vote for an anti-American Racist Socialist.
Heck, even the Clintons & the Clintonistas aren't gonna vote for this clown.
It ruins Clinton's plan to run in 2012 if Obama is elected POTUS.
