Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.
O Lord, tonight I am reminded of my humanity again--that I am not
God. I need sustenance, rest, and other essentials to keep my body
going. As my ship is replenished at sea so that our mission might be
accomplished and our bodies fed, I ask you to replenish my spirit with
hope, love and a sense of purpose. Amen.

End Of Construction
To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory. . . . Jude 1:24
Years ago, Ruth Bell Graham, wife of evangelist Billy Graham, saw a sign by the road: End of ConstructionThank you for your patience. Smiling, she remarked that she wanted those words on her gravestone.
After her death in June 2007, her desire was carried out. Her grave marker bears the Chinese character for righteousness (Mrs. Graham was born in China), followed by the words that made her smile.
Every follower of Christ can share the confidence that Gods faithfulness will carry us through this period of spiritual building on earth. We echo Judes words of praise: Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever (Jude 1:24-25).
Today, were in the construction zone. Judes letter challenges us to grow in faith, pray in the Spirit, and remain surrounded by Gods love (vv.20-21). But this construction is not a self-centered process. We are to show mercy to others and rescue those in danger of spiritual ruin (vv.22-23).
One day our construction will be complete, a prospect thats worth so much more than a smile.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day,
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way. Crosby
To build a godly life, let God be the architect and His Word the blueprint.

Amazing Grace
by John Newton
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. . Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, . And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed! . Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. . The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures. . Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace. . The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine. . When weve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, Weve no less days to sing Gods praise Than when wed first begun.

Ah, teachers.
I think most of us have had at least one special teacher who made a difference in our lives.
I’ve had several, but there was one teacher who stood above the rest. She always went above and beyond, and she helped me to hang on, and even to grow when things were pretty tough.
We remained good friends for the rest of her life. She even flew from St. Louis to Seattle to be at my wedding, 12 years ago tomorrow.
There is much more I could tell you about this wonderful teacher, but the story is very long.
She died on August 10, just 5 weeks ago, and I was there with her. I held her hand as she went back to God.
Her name was Sister Pat Cramer, and to me she will always be the greatest teacher in my life, and one of the greatest friends I will ever have.
