Obama aide: McCain campaign 'sleaziest' in modern history
CNN ^

Posted on 09/13/2008 12:44:51 PM PDT by Chet 99

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama's spokesman on Saturday accused Sen. John McCain of "cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern presidential campaign history." Sen. Barack Obama blasts his rival, Sen. John McCain, at a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, Saturday.

Obama, speaking to a crowd Saturday in Manchester, New Hampshire, said, "John McCain wants to have a debate about national security; let's have that debate. I warned that going into Iraq would distract us from Afghanistan. John McCain cheerleaded for it. John McCain was wrong, and I was right."

"The McCain-[Sarah] Palin ticket, they don't want to debate the Obama-Biden ticket on issues because they are running on eight more years of what we've just seen. And they know it," the Democratic presidential nominee said. "As a consequence, what they're going to spend the next seven, eight weeks doing is trying to distract you.

"They're going to talk about pigs, and they're going to talk about lipstick; they're going to talk about Paris Hilton, they're going to talk about Britney Spears. They will try to distort my record, and they will try to undermine your trust in what the Democrats intend to do."

I just realized what the game is now. They are trying to make McCain lose his temper. Calling him sleazy, calling him dishonorable, saying he is not fit to be president...these are all intended to make McCain lose his cool.

I hope he is ready because this is a weak spot for McCain.

Biden was highly responsible for being at the sleazy center of the Bork nomination hearings.

They need to answer these attacks as this seems to be the way the Obama camp is heading.

Why should the McCain campaign spend the money when the Obama campaign is effectively giving all the reasons to vote for Senator McCain?

Obama’s campaign is on drugs if they think this campaign is sleazy.

On drugs, on boys and throw in Aunt Ester for good measure.

And McCain challenged Baby Barry again to town hall debates at the 9/11 Presidential Forum and yesterday on The View. McCain should just walk out from behind the stage at some Barry event and say—let’s do it!

lil’o spits out the most nasty thing he could at Gov Palin then he, “HE?” cried foul and hit McCain on his not being able to use the computer and now lil’o starts this new lie up.

Best way to deal with the lil’o is to keep coming back at him with humor like McCain has done all along.

Someone get that man a Paxil tablet. The dementia is setting in.

OK - Pig, lipstick, Hilton, and Spears - Which one is unlike the other four?...
my friends - what is the answer? ... Barack must know ... He mentioned these four "items" specifically... I say it's Spears because she knows how to use a clippers.

“From a campaign whose surrogates have said Palin’s baby should have been aborted?”

And, from a campaign whose surrogates have put Trig on ebay?

That made no sense, Sorry. Obama's running mate Sen. Joe Biden was supposed to attend the Manchester rally but did not.

Have they put him into cold storage, along with Michelle?

It’s money. Think money.

They have to find red meat for their donors without going too extremely leftward. The only option is to do name calling.

It can work. McCain’s people will have to respond firmly.

May I suggest Fort Hood as the venue? Oh, wait.....

This is the Dems MO, Accuse the other side to inoculate yourself when you run the sleaziest campaign ever.

You nailed it.

Straight from the Clinton playbook.

When the press calls them on it, (if they do) "we are just responding to the McCain campaign"

For a zero experience community organizer like Obama, of course it’s the dirtiest campaign he’s ever known - it’s the only competitive campaign he’s ever been in.

He was handed his Illinois legislature seat when a fellow race baiting Marxist stepped down, he was handed his US Senate seat when his would be adversary was forced out of the race by shameless journalists digging in his divorce records, finding out that the Presidency isn’t going to be handed to him without contest either is a rude awakening.

Why doesn’t Obama stop talking about talking about the issues for a minute, and stop telling us what he fantasizes about doing, and pull out some proof of anything he has ever successfully planned and executed. Name just one thing...what has he ever said that he was gonna do in his professional capacity, and then done it successfully? I’m not holding my breath.

Everybody has plans, even my 10-year old. It’s those who can actually do what they say they are going to do that are the true leaders. So, senator Obama, stop whining about what you want to do and show first that you actually have the capacity to do something.
