The Obama campaign is mocking John McCain for not using a computer. From the AP story about the computer illiterate ad:
"Our economy wouldn't survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats," [Obama spokesman Dan] Pfeiffer said. "It's extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn't know how to send an e-mail."Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by "extraordinary." The reason he doesn't send email is that he can't use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball. In a similar vein I guess it's an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn't know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it's like to navigate New York's highways.
Sorry, confused you with another poster. My bad.
Oh dangit, I screwed this up again. That makes twice. My comment was in agreement with yours, mocking those who thought that having “secretaries and assistants” — or his wife — do the typing was a negative. Guess I wasn’t clear enough.
Not been in my best form this week. Could offer an excuse/reason, but won’t bother...
POST OF THE MONTH THERE, SkyPilot !!
but the funny thing is...McCain actually is an IT computer geek
In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.

Oh My Goodness.
My dog is looking at me wondering why I’m on the floor having laughing attacks.
obama cannot use his brain because there is nothing in it.
HEY!!! Cut that out!!! You are being very, very unkind to pigs!!!! :-)
Sounds like high school to me.
OMG! Do you think President Obama will friend Putin on Facebook?
;-)
Because of the torture he received in Vietnam.
Unlike Kerry and his 3 months in Vietnam, that we have all heard about ad nauseum, McCain has not talked at length about how the torture he endured for years has affected his arms and hands. I wish McCain would describe in greater detail what he endured. I know that for me learning about it opened my eyes to the depth of his integrity and love for America.
John Sidney McCain III is often shown doing awkward movements with his arms and hands because of the limited mobility he experiences do to extreme torture and beatings at the hands of his captors.
While this is well known to us, there are MANY people, especially from GENERATION DUMBASS, who have no clue what happened to him:
from answers.yahoo:
Are they artificial? Did he get wounded? Was he born with short arms? I'm really not trying to be funny, Just wandering. * 1 month ago
from You Tube:
OMG, this guy arms freak me out!
He was never tortured !!!! He's a traitor ! To bad he couldn't learn to eject from an aircraft properly .
My question is: is the Obama ad mocking McCain for not using a keyboard still running anywhere?

NEVER FORGET
.
After Sen. TED KENNEDY led a post-Watergate Democrat Congress into cutting off all U.S. funding for the then Free South Vietnamese to fight for their own Freedom with against invaders from the North,
...came a whole lot more tortoring from the resultantly victorious Communist North Vietnamese:

To suggest McCain do anyhting BUT fight back in this situation is ill-advised and makes him look old, weak, and embarrassed.
As far as I am concerned, Mack has earned the right to say whatever he wants, especially concerning his injuries.
If you don’t defend yourself from this then one should not be allowed to be CIC for being a sissy like the emasculated Obambi. He’ such a wuss and a very little man for making his ATTACKS and NEGATIVE campaigning so personal.
“Just Words....Just Speeches”?? ...BHO
Apparently, YES, that is it from Mr. 57 States
Take that back! You defame all 2 year olds when you compare them to B. Hessein Obama.
in 2000 when McCain was running against Bush (I was backing Bush and living in Texas at the time). A co-worker (who is fairly smart and was in the Army reserve) made a "funny" comment abot McCain's arms. Me and and friend lit him up for saying such a stupid thing and told him he moves his arms that way because of the torture he received serving his country. He felt bad for what he said...we need to make the Rats apologize for running that sleazy commercial.
I think Fred is the go-to guy in this. He did such an awesome job at the RNC convention.
I just got through reading a letter to the editor in a paper about this. One whacko quote was along the lines of “If Stephen Hawking can use a computer, so can McCain”. Lunacy.
*applause*
Maybe saying "I have secretaries and assistants to do this work" is a dignified response. It respond to this ridiculous attack and show that Mack doesn't want to get into the gutter.
