John McCain is mocked as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate in a television commercial out Friday from Barack Obama as the Democrat begins his sharpest barrage yet on McCain's long Washington career.

The new fighting spirit comes as McCain has been gaining in the polls and some Democrats have been expressing concern the Obama campaign has not been aggressive enough. Obama's campaign says the escalation will involve advertising and pushes made by the candidate, running mate Joe Biden and other surrogates across the country.
"Today is the first day of the rest of the campaign," Obama campaign manager David Plouffe says in a campaign strategy memo. "We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain's attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people."
The newest ad showcasing their hard line includes unflattering footage of McCain at a hearing in the early '80s, wearing giant glasses and an out-of-style suit, interspersed with shots of a disco ball, a clunky phone, an outdated computer and a Rubik's Cube.

Less that 50% of adults in the US over the age of 65 have a computer in their Household.
It's been fun recently, listening to Obama and his pals talk about how Republicans keep winning elections because they are so much better than the Democrats at campaigning. This from the guy who has done nothing but campaigning ever since he became a senator, and who has the audacity to list all of that campaigning as his primary qualification to be president.
Obama is a dumbass.
Counter-Ad: “John McCain is the Presidential candidate most capable of dealing with the 3:00am phone call. The 3:00am PHONE CALL, not the 3:00am EMAIL.”
Go ahead, mock the elderly, but why don't you include a few shots of Joe “Plugs” Biden in his leisure suite as well, just for balance.
ROFL! Great video!
So it's a big issue how well a president can use computers? lol. In reality, this is very much a johnny-come-lately ad. Clearly, they are trying to do their own version of a McCain ad. Problem is, they are way off target. There's no point to the ad. They mimicked the style, but had no bullseye to hit. Conclusion: FAIL.
You are correct. I think a great response would be for McCain to stress that one of the greatest tests of leadership is in the selection of people around him, advising doing his bidding. On this score Bambi is toast.
A great add by McCain would be a shot of him sitting at a large computer screen with a form as follows:
_ Veto wasteful spending and pork.
_ Strenthen our miltary.
McCain clicks on each chechbox and then clicks on the Ok button. Turns around and says “Now I’m a computer geek like my opponent.”.
McCain “wearing giant glasses and an out-of-style suit, interspersed with shots of a disco ball, a clunky phone, an outdated computer and a Rubik’s Cube.”
So I suppose our response ad would be the picture of Barry Obama in a large afro and a quasi-leisure suit? Almost everyone looked stupid in the 70’s and 80’s.
Maybe we should teach McCain how to watch the rev. Wright videos on Youtube?
I support computers for a living and know more about them than 99% of people.
Flat out, most people know less about computers than they do about a car. How many times have you met someone that drives a car, but doesn’t know how to put air in the tires? That describes the TYPICAL computer user. They know just enough to perform the functions they need to, but never learn anything beyond that.
Surfing the internet and sending e-mails is as deep as most people get.
When did Joe Biden go to Washington and how was his fashion sense?
LOL... McCain only needs to learn what “STFU” means so he can use it to Obama in his very first email...... :^)
Exactly. They know how to turn the thing on but barely know how to open the trunk, ask why would you ever change the oil, and are afraid to even open the glove box.
From a guy that bowled a 37?
Precisely....great point. He is mocking a generation...
What a lame joke this ad is.
First, it will po people like my wife, youngest son, DIL and her mother , 2 BILs and millions of people who don’t like computers and use them only when they have too or not at all.
Then, it will po people forced to live with using computers throughout the workday, and who never use one, when they leave the office. My older son, several nephews and nieces fall into this category.
Next, we will hear how ruining his campaign and being a rat voter ward clerk made this idiot prepared to be POTUS.
Last but not least, when that 3 am phone call comes in, I want my POTUS to have intel advisors, who have leagues of computer geeks, to advise him what the problem is and the options.
Snowbami would get on his computer to ask one of his commie brothers or nation of Islam bros what to do to hurt America.
This kind of ad is going to piss off the boomers in that we used to dress that way 30 years ago and many are technologically illiterate. The difference is that we vote. Most youngsters do not.
Perhaps McCain could learn from that..
