Here are the headline and the first two paragraphs from an article posted online that apparently will be on the front page of Friday's Washington Post:
"Palin Links Iraq to 9/11, A View Discarded by Bush" By Anne E. Kornblut Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, September 12, 2008; A01
FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska, Sept. 11 -- Gov. Sarah Palin linked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."
The idea that Iraq shared responsibility with al-Qaeda for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected even by the president himself. On any other day, Palin's statement would almost certainly have drawn a sharp rebuke from Democrats, but both parties had declared a halt to partisan activities to mark Thursday's anniversary."
Kornblut's interpretation of what Palin said is either stupid or malicious. Palin is evidently saying that American soldiers are going to Iraq to defend innocent Iraqis from al Qaeda in Iraq, a group that is related to al Qaeda, which did plan and carry out the Sept. 11 attacks. It makes no sense for Kornblut to claim that Palin is arguing here that Saddam Hussein's regime carried out 9/11--obviously Palin isn't saying that our soldiers are now going over to Iraq to fight Saddam's regime. Palin isn't linking Saddam to 9/11.

I’d say stupidly malicious. The left used to be much better at this. Now the strings are showing.
How dare you, kellynla, insult the Washington Post! Show some more respect for the Barack Obama campaign’s PR firm!
Next thing you know, people will be complaining about the NY Times, CNN, AP, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, Newsday and all of my other favorite news outlets!
/sarc
I’m really sick of the lamestream Obama media. It is outrageous. I’d say, a lot of people, like me, are going to block them out until election day when they go cast their vote for McCain-Palin!
Meanwhile, nobody in the lamestream media find it worth mentioning that Michelle Obama (yuck) skipped the 9/11 Memorial yesterday but found time to be out campaigning the day before (so much for the excuse that she wanted to spend the week with her girls who were returning to school that week).
Kristol is not a moral man
I am so tired of the lie. We KNOW that there were links between 9/11 and Iraq. And there were many srticles here about it. Can someone link me to them?
“Posted this morning”
Well, I did a “search” and nothing came up...
Post your complaint with the management.
I don’t work here, I’m just “passin’ through.”LOL
Id say stupidly malicious.
Not to mention maliciously stupid.
Stay on it for us, Bill.
The extremists move from area to area among these states according to where they can find safe haven. Saddam was a dictator seeking ultimate power over the ME who was already flirting with extremists in northern Iraq as a possible pawn to achieve his goals.
Saddam and his brutal regime needed to go second..after the Taliban in Afghanistan for at least four strategic reasons, before the wider war could be continued. It takes some analysis to understand this and the "two hours of news a week" crowd still don't get it.
BOTH!
Kristol is a VERY moral man! Did you read the article?
The ariter, Anne E. Kornblut, is consciously and maliciously misleading because Palin does not worship at the altar of “Government as Husband, Husband as Disease.”
“the washington post, ‘stupid or malicious?”
neither. just a bunch of triangulating, lying, leftist, partisan scu&bags who want the internationalist revolution to succeed.
IMHO
Yes he is with us this time .....but just wait.
Where was WaPo and Mr. Kristol recently, when General Petreas said, in so many words, that in spite of what is happening with the Taliban in Afghanistan, Al Queda themselves continue to view Iraq as the “central front” for them, and our commanders recognize that.
Palin did not say anything that our top commanders are not saying, when it comes to Al Queda and Iraq.
Like Patrick Swayze said in “Roadhouse”, be nice.....
