Sarah Palin Defends Experience, Takes Hard Line Approach on National Security
Republican VP Candidate Speaks with ABC News' Charlie Gibson in Exclusive Interview

On the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, Gov. Sarah Palin took a hard-line approach on national security and said that war with Russia may be necessary if that nation invades another country.
In her first of three interviews with ABC News's Charles Gibson and the only interview since being picked by Sen. John McCain as his Republican vice presidential nominee, Palin categorized the Russian invasion of Georgia as "unacceptable" and warned of the threats from Islamic terrorists and a nuclear Iran.
The Governor advocated the accession of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO.
When asked by Gibson if under the NATO treaty, the U.S. would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help.
"And we've got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable," she told ABC News' Charles Gibson in an exclusive interview.

Yep, Gibson took Sarah’s “task from God” quote completely out of context.

The cut job was so obvious.
I thought Charles Gibson did what he needed to do. Was there a bias ? sure. Did Sarah hit it out of the park ? YES.

I liked how she didn’t fall for the yes/no answer trap on pakistan. If you answer either yes or no then you have lost.
The first few quotes are from a Youtube video at her church. They aren’t exact but sets the tone as she talks to what I think are new graduates:
“...God’s will needs to be done in unifying people - so pray for that...”
“We can do a lot of hard work ...”
“..it doesn’t do us any good if their heart isn’t right with God. Reaching people so that God’s will may be done.”
Pray for our military men and women...they are striving to do what is right...” which leads into the next sentence.
The following is EXACT:
“And our leader’s, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure we are praying for. That there is a plan, and that plan is God’s plan.”

You’ve had a few hours, day and a half, now, to analyze the results on Tuesday. What happened on Tuesday? A lot of people thought there was a chance you could close the deal on Tuesday. Was it her contention that you are too young, too inexperienced to be Commander in

Tough questions are fine. Unfair questions are not - Gibson definitely took her Church quotes out of context, but it looks like (based on the transcript) that she did fine. I’m on the West Coast, so I guess I’ll have to wait to see for myself.
He was definitely trying to drive a stake in the heart of their biggest threat in years.

For Pete’s sake. She didn’t say that Georgia was a member of NATO. She said earlier that she believed that Georgia should be admitted into NATO. She then answered correctly the question you mentioned: what might happen if Russia invaded Georgia as a NATO country. She specifically referred to the NATO treaty.
