First on TVNewser: Insiders tell us the first Charlie Gibson/Sarah Palin interview is complete. The first sit-down lasted 30 minutes and included questions about energy independence, foreign affairs and whether Gov. Palin is ready to be Vice President. "Absolutely," is her response. When asked if she is ready to step in and be president of the United States. Palin answers, "You bet."
We're told Gibson asked for two extra minutes and used it to ask Palin whether she agrees with the "Bush Doctrine." Among Palin's responses:
"The top priority is to defend the United States of America. I know that John McCain would do that."
"With new leadership comes opportunity to do things better."
"War has got to be a last option."
"If a strike is imminent we have every right to defend our country...and that's what a McCain/Palin administration would do."
"In order to stop Islamic extremists we must do whatever it takes. We must not blink, Charlie."
The Left's response will be that Palin felt it was God's plan before it wasn't God's plan.

SO FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY SEEN THE INTERVIEW, WHAT IS YOUR ABSOLUTE HONEST OPINION OF HOW SHE DID??
ITS NU-CLE-AR not NU-CU-LUR.
What buggering difference does it make? If one goes off, it will kill all the same, no matter what bloody way you pronounce it!
Tell you what - you want a perfect candidate, with perfect diction, vote for, uh, er, ah, Obama. Git.
She knew she was being set up, which is why she asked Charlie what he meant. His condescending facial expression and follow on question was meant to show that she did not know what the Bush Doctrine was. Her response demonstrated she didn’t. Later, he described it and then asked her again about it. I thought this was dispicable, i.e., why he couldn’t have described the policy and then ask the question without trying to catch her.
Charlie didn’t lob these softballs ...
In Obama Interview ABCs Gibson Imitates Saturday Night Live?
EXCERPT
Gibsons questions to Obama:
Youve had a few hours, day and a half, now, to analyze the results on Tuesday. What happened on Tuesday? A lot of people thought there was a chance you could close the deal on Tuesday. Was it her contention that you are too young, too inexperienced to be Commander in
Chief?
You made the point on your campaign plane yesterday, you said she went negative in the last few days of that. To fight back, do you have to do the same? In other words, do you have to, in effect, show some toughness in all of this, greater than you have so far?
She said Senator McCain will bring a lifetime of experience to the campaign. I will bring a lifetime of experience to the campaign. Senator Obama will bring a speech that he made in 2002. Now, she said that before. But its pretty in-your-face. I wonder your reaction?
Senator, youre kind to take the time, on a day when you legitimately should be able to simply just take long naps. I thank you. All the best to you.
I though she did great. Came off as confident and gave honest answers. Didn’t stutter and uhh uhh stammer like the anointed one. They are gonna show some more of the interview in the upcoming segment...
So far, so good. The only foul up was on the Bush doctrine. The editing and cutting her off in mid-sentence is trying to make her out to be some religious kook. And Gibson superior and holier than thou attitude is off-putting.
I have a feeling Sarah's IQ is darn near off the chart, and Gibson didn't have a clue how to handle her.
He'll save himself some embarrassment if he doesn't try to handle her, and instead just asks her relevant questions - if he can remember how.
just caught the end of that, but charlie was certainly trying to paint her into a corner and she was strong in her defense.
No, Georgia was not a member of NATO. Georgia and the Ukraine were associated with it and I am sure that the membership was to be an eventual goal for both.
Gibson pissed me off with the question about her passport and international travel. I think that the next interview she does there should be a precondition that the interview should be shown unedited.
That was the first thing I noticed, like the school counselor inquisition. Deep stern voice, does he think that makes HIM look smarter than her. My answer is NO!!
He came across as a condescending schmuck.
It's quite obvious that she can hold her own. GO SARAH!

I thought the exact same thing.
C.
But anybody who expects her to be an instant Bolton-class expert on international affairs is . . . well . . . a Democrat, I guess. She totally whiffed on the Bush Doctrine question, which I actually find kind of amusing, considering Obama's relentless hammering of McCain as being the third term of Bush.
A passing grade, but needs improvement.
Sounds like Charlie was trying to paint her as some wild-eyed nutcase who wants to smite the rest of the world in the name of God. She handled him quite deftly. The comparison with Lincoln’s words was well done, as Charlie himself had to acknowledge.
“He came across as a condescending schmuck.”
I AGREE! Totally condescending! That tone may resonate with women.
