The Constitution both prohibits Congress from respecting an establishment of religion and empowers it to promote science and the useful arts.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Funny how every liberal who wishes to destroy religious freedom in this country stops at the establishment clause and totally ignores the "prohibiting the free exercise thereof" part as if it's not there. That's in there too, immediately following the establishment clause.

So the Constitution empowers Congress to promote science and the useful arts? Please, show me where in the Constitution that the Founding Fathers gave Congress the authority to promote science and *useful arts* (a vague catch all term open to wide interpretation if there ever was any).

Counter to your rant there are millions of people exercising their freedom of religion and no one is threatening to shut the churches down. You say "every liberal" but only once in a blue moon does one even suggest removing the tax breaks that go to the churches. Please stop with the hyperbole.

Article I, Section 8. But you’ve already dismissed it before you read it.
