NO, he never said “pretty face” at all. Just made light of the whole thing and said that in the pig example Palin would’ve “been the lipstick.” It was confusing and stupid and they got laughs out of it. Perfect.
Letterman accomplished what he set out to do: rehabilitate The One on national TV while managing to be amused and amusing throughout. It was disgusting and lasted nearly an hour. The Zero owes Dave, big time.
anytime now he should be coming out saying that he “mispoke” and meant to say “she is NOT just another pretty face”...;)
‘and I don’t find the quote they are talking about.’
I just read the transcript. No such thing said. Shame on someone.
“Pretty face” is not in quotes, so it’s not technically false.
It was arguably Obama’s intent to say that, and I’m disappointed the author didn’t spend time doing so.
Obama’s campaigfn is trying to portray her as a token female: ‘lipstick on the bad old Bush policies’ if you will.
Of course they don’t dare do so openly.
I can't even find a statement from the transcript that even implies that, so yes it is false. Someone needs to explain what quote they are talking about and make the case what was meant.
Admin - the link in the story while quoting Obama the link at FOX does not have the quote.
Until this story can be verified maybe it should be pulled.

"Dave: Yeah, they got together and they said, You know what? He called our vice presidential candidate a pig. (audience laughs) Well, that seems pretty unlikely, doesnt it?
Obama: It does. But keep in mind that, technically, had I meant it that way, she would have been the lipstick, you see? "
He did mean it that way. The entire campaign against Sarah is based on this- at least until the debate.
Of course this something he can wriggle out of though, for now.
You could make a case from that statement, but if it takes three or four sentenses of explaining to get at what is being implied, it will not be a very effective attack. Besides, Obama parsed that statement before making it, so it would even be more difficult for the attack to stick.
I doubt we'll find irrefutable proof they're doing this, it's like the pretty girls in car commercials, the happy children in the laundry commercials, etc: subliminal.
That is why McCain's campaign mmade such a big deal out of this incredibly, even unbelievably, silly issue- to blunt a defining of her in the electorate's subconscious.
That’s what I figured.
Thanks for the reply.
As usual, Obama is about half-right.
She does have a pretty face...
That would explain the pig reference.
I thought it was his lack of experience and maturity, but Zer0bama could just be another woman hating muslim.
