Lets start with the obvious and inarguable: Of course Sen. Barack Obamas comment about lipstick on a pig was a reference to Supergirl Sarah Palin.
You know it, I know it and the partisan crowd that literally rose to their feet and cheered when they heard it know it.
And its nothing new. Democrats shot the lipstick line at Gov. Palin on their official Web site last week with a posting entitled McCains Selection of Palin is Lipstick on a Pig - accompanied by what Im sure was intended to be a flattering photo of the Alaska outdoorswoman.
And - coincidence or something more? - the same day Obama made his crack, a Democratic congressman introducing Joe Biden said of Sarah Palin, Theres no way you can dress up her record, even with a lot of lipstick.
If there was anyone in the audience still too dense to get it - say, an employee of CNN, perhaps - Obama immediately followed up with a reference to the McCain/Palin campaign wrapping an old fish in a piece of paper called change.
A lipstick-wearing pig and an old fish? Gee, who could he possibly be talking about?
So please, my Obama-supporting friends, lets stop the nonsense about how Obamas lipstick talk was, as he put it yesterday, an innocent comment, or that the reaction is phony outrage.
You want phony outrage? Flashback to Hillary Clintons 3 a.m. ad. Remember it? The helpless children asleep in bed, the insistent ringing phone, etc., etc. And some Obama supporters immediately cried racism because, they claimed, the ad played on white fears of black home invaders.
Or, even more laughable, that the first three letters of the word night in the kids Goodnight Moon pajamas were highlighted for nefarious purposes.
Now that was phony...

Thank you Michael, for this great piece! You ARE the man!
0be is of the old politics and needs to be called out on it.
It does us no good to be polite and give them the benefit of the doubt when they are being a$$holes.
Rather we should point out that they are being a$$holes, make sure the voters know it, and move on. We’re not picking up the victim role. Rather, we are just pointing out their bad behavior.
Totally agree with you. I’m disappointed with some of our conservative friends giving Obama a pass and the “benefit of the doubt.” The way he delivered that line, the way the audience was eating it up, the way he juiced it up with them, and the fact that he COINCIDENTALLY came up with this right after Palin mentions lipstick, makes this very obvious. Not even close.
I hope people don’t start getting soft on Obama, now that McCain is starting to do well. We need to keep hitting Obama on everything. This should not even be a close election. Only a crushing defeat of Obama will do, to give McCain/Palin the clout to really change things from day one.
But he was promptly on Letterman to tell everyone that his comnments had nothing to do with Palin....(sarcasm alert)
he missed the phony outrage over Toon’s “fairy tale “ comment, missed the discussion here of “stinking fish” = barracuda here the other night, and forgot about the angry adolescent delighting his North Carolina crowd by flipping the bird upon mentioning Hillary Clinton’s name the weekend before the PA primary as I recall it. We had it on Youtube here.
lol the knives are out!
that’s the kind of response I wanted to see from hannity and o’reilly.
First it was Hillary that was on her way to a coronation.
And she got upended by Obama.
THen it was Obama who was on his way to a coronation.’
And he got up ended by the McCain/Palin ticket.
I don’t know know what I’d do if I was a Democrat.
Maybe vote Republican.
flipping the bird and digging ala Jeremiah Wright.
Backing up from this littel incident, I can’t get over how rattled Obama is over Palin. He’s barely even dealing with McCain anymore!
She’s really gotten into his head. haha
yeah he’s getting psyched out
and you can stick a smooth talking, POS, crackhead, in a 3 piece suit but he’s still just a smooth talking, POS, crackhead, .
BINGO!
The answer? Barama couldnt help himself from saying it.
The big mistake is that Obama personally got involved. Surrogates should do the dirty work but, it is good for McCain that Obama panicked and jumped her.
He thinks he is on a street corner talkn' to the hood!
Being a Democrat is kinda like playing for the ACC football title. In the end it doesn’t mean much.
