Barack Obamas lipstick on a pig comment grabbed all the headlines Wednesday, but a line he delivered just before that remark is leading critics to wonder whether the Democratic presidential candidates speechwriter is a cartoonist.
On Tuesday, for the third time in four days, Obama borrowed a lengthy bubble quote from Washington Post cartoonist Tom Toles. He did not acknowledge the origin of the quote the first time he used it and credited the cartoon only after the Post contacted the Obama campaign to ask about the first use.
John McCain says hes about change, too. And so, I guess his whole angle is, Watch out, George Bush. Except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics were really gonna shake things up in Washington, Obama said during a rally Tuesday in Lebanon, Va.
As it turns out, Toles cartoon in The Washington Post last Friday depicted McCain addressing the White House with the caption: Watch out, Mr. Bush! With the exception of economic policy and energy policy and social issues and tax policy and foreign policy and Supreme Court appointments and Rove-style politics, were coming in there to shake things up!

Thank God Fox News is exposing him for the plagerizer he is. He’s already been busted using another man’s speech as his own and then demurely muttered he should have given credit.
I just hope that the DNC and the media are recognizing that the Great Black Hope they put on a pedastal is really just a parrot. I doubt it though.
The curtain has been pulled back on this campaign, I am sensing a total implosion.
I’ve done my best to avoid Toles’ cartoons, simply because they are annoying and make me want to do horrible things with the editorial section. He and Obama are made for each other.
So he stole it. Typical.
Check it out!!!
Sure he can deliver a line that someone else writes. But I’d like to see how he does without a cartoonish speech writer.
Cartoons are about Obama’s speed of reading and understanding. For a Harvard grad, he sure is dumb
A talented person should photoshop Toucan Sam’s headdress on Parrot Obama’s head.
Bammy is a political cartoon.
Should be “repeatedly”-—typing on a little laptop
I thought he stole it from “Plugs” Biden.
Fixed.
Honestly... If I’m gonna quote a cartoon, it’s usually Bugs or Daffy. The problem is that would be funny and a comedian Obama ain’t.
A perfect line for Obama is, “If there’s an American who doesn’t think I’m a communist then, in the words of the great Bugs Bunny, ‘he don’t know me very well, do he?’”
Or, as of late, to quote Homer (Simpson) “Doh!”
Some reporter on Fox just mentioned that Obama is a great speaker. He sure has not been watching the same O bum a I have been watching.
Nope. He s(Tole) it.
Indeed. Totally fake, packaged product is what Obama is making himself out to be.
Whatever happened to Doonesbury? I haven’t read comics in quite a while but back when I did, there was Doonesbury. I know that the cartoonist (Garry Trudeau) is a left-wing nut but his cartoon strips were usually worth checking out. I remember his strip during the Watergate days when I actually was a big of a left-winger myself. In fact, when I was 17, I went to a Jackson Browne concert with a “No-nukes” T-shirt. That was probably the high-water mark of my fling with liberalism. It wasn’t too long after that that Reagan came on the scene and I joined the Marine Corps.
It’s fitting since Obama is a cartoon and a joke himself.
