Obama started in with Toles's "Exce-", but quickly realized that he didn't start the joke correctly, so he went back and filled in the preamble to the joke, and then he returned later to Toles's "Except" once again.
After that, he deliberately launched into the "Lipstick on a Pig" template, pausing and hesitating and timing the joke for what he hoped would be maximum effectiveness.
Great work!
Great work putting the info together! ;)
"You CAN'T put lipstick on a pig..."but he had to correct himself to say that
"You CAN put lipstick on a pig..."
Talking Points.
Great work. More proof that the 0bama campaign is intellectually bankrupt, as are its supporters. Nothing but empty, vapid, platitudinous bilge.
” Obama started in with Toles’s “Exce-”, but quickly realized that he didn’t start the joke correctly, so he went back and filled in the preamble to the joke, and then he returned later to Toles’s “Except” once again. “
I wonder if Obama was supposed to say the same as Biden-you can put lipstick on a record..but, forgot what he was supposed to say.
The video shows Obama rubbing his forehead , like a Genie rubbing a lamp, praying for a thought and instead of abandoning the whole concept-just goes with what comes naturally-a sleazy personal insult.
"Lipstick on a pig" is after all a reasonably common phrase, that one might use, like "boy am I tired". Neither is particularly racist, sexist, or demeaning as a figure of speech.
Planning to say it in advance? No. Calling someone, or deliberately implying someone is a pig is offensive, especially if a muslim does it!
Yes. I deliberately used Islam's own standard, the son of a muslim man is a muslim.
Could the admission to Keith Olbermann about Toles be considered attribution of Toles' line, and thus no longer plagiarism for subsequent usages? Or would he have to say, "As Tom Toles has so eloquently phrased it..." every time? I figure that if it was Mccain this was regarding, we would be saying he had already done the attribution.
Wonderful catch and excellent work!
Drudge has the headline on now “As media turns on Obama. . .” or something like that. When you click, it is apparent from the linked blog that NO MEDIA ORGAN that was pro-Obama has “turned” against him in any way. And the Anoin—er, chosen one has issued a decree on the 10th day of September in the year of 2008, that no one is to challenge the words of the Anoin—er, chosen one, and no woman is to take insult from him lampooning the word “lipstick” by putting it on a “pig”. Hear ye, hear ye.
Moveth along, folks, there is no man behind the curtain.
I really wish we could edit our posts at Free Republic - the information comes in so fast that I already have new stuff I wish I had posted almost as soon as I hit the "Post" button.
Excellent!
Found this phrase on a Hillary site:
Read my lipstick — NO TO OBAMA!
Excellent post.
Bottom line. Obama made the lipstick/pig remark in order to pick a fight with the McCain-Palin campaign. When you’re dropping in the polls its time to go on the offensive, but first you have to get everyones attention. Obama wasn’t expecting this to backfire like it has. He figured a smart ass remark to motivate his supporters and insult Sarah Palin in the process would guarantee a response from the McCain campaign.
You got your wish, Barry.
Rush needs to see this thread......
US Rep Shelley Berkeley (D-NV-1) said at a democrat womens luncheon this last weekend and used this same line - exactly.
No are no coincidences that could explain dozens of people around the country using the exact same words. Unless Obama thinks we are all stupider than his own supporters.
Checking the DUmp, something big is about to break.
You know what it is?
Excellent work.
