I believe is a major mistake by the McCain camp. They could have let the 'Pig' comment go and been endeared even further. But now, they are taking on the victim status and seem small and petty, and as if they are using this as a way to avoid talking about issues. This response is going to cause Obama to take back the lead again in the polls.
No, I don’t agree, not for a couple of more hours. This needs to be in the news for one day cycle (8am to 8pm). One last statement from the McCain camp should end it, but there needs to be that last statement. If I may humbly suggest:
It is clear that Senator Obama cleverly called Governor Palin a pig by using a well-known phrase. Instead of apologizing for the insulting personal attack, he is saying that we need to focus on real issues in this campaign, such as the lack of executive experience in several of the candidate’s resumes. We agree that the American people deserve more than tabloid looks at minor issues and deserve to hear more from the candidates themselves on their positions and experience.
I’d love to see her, just before she begins a speech, say, “Excuse me for a moment. I’ve got to put on some lipstick.” That would be a riot.
That would be a hoot. lol
This is a universal characteristic of leftists/liberals everywhere. I have been following politics for going on 50 years and I have yet to encounter a liberal who will admit they erred on something, even if shown by irrefutable logic and/or facts that they are. They are so emotionally invested in their ideology that to admit error would undermine and weaken to the point of collapse their preconceived notions of reality.
I'll never forget the "debate" I had with a Clintonian liberal just after Clinton admitted under oath that he had "sexual contact" with Gennifer Flowers. So I asked this lady what she thought of Clinton lying. She said he didn't lie. I said he said originally that he had nothing to do with Gennifer Flowers and didn't have an affair with her. She said he was telling the truth. So then I said, well, he must have lied under oath then when he said he did have a relationship with her. So the lady says no, he wasn't lying then, either. Well, gees, it's got to be one or the other, both can't be true. She just couldn't bring herself to admit she was wrong. Amazing.
McCain is at the point where he thinks he has to stand up for (or with) Gov. Palin. The left wing feeding frenzy has been absolutely pyranhaish for almost two weeks now on her, and when Obama even appears to join in it isn’t becoming. McCain’s right; we can’t have the President of the United States having diarrhea of the mouth, and whether veiled or not, referring to anyone as a “pig”, or a “stinky old fish” only focuses people on your own snout and your VP running mate’s rotten fins.

I agree about not dwelling on the incident. The best outcome would be that the public starts to expect immature and sneaky personal insults from the Messiah. He's not the thoughtful, businesslike, level-headed and mature person that many people were fooled into seeing him as.
Todd saying something would imply that Sarah needs protected, and she can fight this battle perfectly well on her own. He is much more intimidating if he just gives Obama a stare-down, should their paths ever cross. Just give Barry a Clint Eastwood like squint ;)

The pig comment and the stink comment are outrageous and will not be tolerated.
Our individual and collective Gestalts are working just fine and we know exactly what Obama was implying. Now he’ll come back and say he was just trying to make a joke. Does he take us all for fools?
His poll numbers will continue to slip as he continues to sputter and gets away from his talking points. So, on second thought, let him continue to open his mouth. The polls will let him know plenty fast that the McCain ticket will absorb Obama’s losses.
My question is: why is he even trying to engage his opponent’s running mate? Obama should be trying to engage McCain, not Palin.
Palin is going to pick up more and more support from women voters. McCain has already picked up a 20 point gain among women voters (which Obama says is a lie, but no matter. He was all too eager to believe the polls when they were in his favor.)

From what I've seen of her so far, I'd be very surprised if she plays the victim.

She doesn’t need her husband to defend her, and everyone knows this. But a husband speaking out on behalf of his wife for the thuggish statements made by Obama would resonate throughout the country where real men do not talk about women in such a way.
I don’t assume that I know if he was eluding to her or not. It is a common phrase and I understand it in the context that he used it, evidently many people don’t. McCain/Palin should have just left it alone, why try to play the victim. Seems to me they would be better off staying above it.
As for the comment itself, big deal. I've called Hillary a swine.
By the way, earlier today you posted in big screaming capital letters, "OKAY FOLKS, GROW UP, GET THE PARAGRAPH HE SAID BEFORE WHAT YOU HAVE POSTED AND YOU WILL SEE HE WAS NOT TALKING ABOUT SARAH AT ALL"...

She will not play the victim. I would be surprised (and disappointed) if she did.
I ain't afraid of making a scene. For the truth. For falsehood or for a trumped-up charge, that's a different story.
And I really can't agree that he must be defeated in "any political way possible" if that includes accusing him of things he didn't intend. I'm sorry. Politics is one thing, but I got an immortal soul to worry about. Slander and detraction are objectively evil no matter who does it, and the politics of the thing doesn't affect that in the least.
Like I said, if it can be demonstrated that he did this deliberately, then cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war. Until then, I'm keeping my powder dry on this one.
Day 1: Publicize the remark
Day 2: Publicize reactions to the remark
Day 3: Publicize whether the remark has lasting affects, including more poll data detailing the McCain surge
Another three news cycles blown by Obama. Not the sign of a good executive.
