Below is an article which I suspect applies in part to every Governor of every State in at least some way. The locality of Alaska is special. In Hawaii The Hawaii Air National Guard is our line of defense in the Pacific. Nice to know we also have the Alaskan National Guard both ground and air.
The article is not opinion but just information.
SARAH PALIN'S SECURITY CLEARANCE
Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard, consider this:
Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. Itʼs on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.
As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.
She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.
Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia , she may have security clearances we don't even know about. According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.
She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.
does not answer to the Governor of Alaska.
McCain can be trusted. And that is good enough for me.
Which means that it falls under the authority of the president and not the governor.

Doubtful. Obama is on the Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security committees and as a senator he has access to any and all classified material he needs for him to do his job, and no more. Likewise, Palin is prvy only to classified military, security, and counterterrorism information that she needs to do her job as governor of Alaska and no more. A top secret clearance doesn't mean you have access to all top secret information. There is no doubt some information she gets that Obama and Biden don't, and there is information that they get that Palin doesn't need to know.
Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia , she may have security clearances we don't even know about.
Doubtful. As governor she has no part in international relations. That's what the State Department is for.
**She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.**
Definitely. Much more so that Obama!
Right now I’m more concerned with what McCain says than I am over what Sarah Palin might say. Brit Hume is right, Sarah has not been challenged on this level, and all politicians make gaffes at one time or another. From what I’ve seen so far, Sarah Palin is more than capable of holding her own.
I also agree with you on changing McCain’s mind on issues, such as ANWR. There would be no chance of getting more oil and gas with Obama, but at least McCain has shown himself to be willing to be convinced. On this issue anyway.
Agreed, she’ll be fine. I’m hoping she takes a hunk out of Biden at the debate, but I’m loving watching THE ONE squirm right now. I do almost feel sorry for him.
As long as were at it, anyone seeking to vote for said candidate should be able to demonstrate proficiency in using the English language.
Relax, that ain't gonna happen either!

GtG
