Are your shoes liberal or conservative?

A new study by the Washington, DC-based Leadership Institute highlights how companies divvy their political dollars.

The Leadership Institute has released its study of the largest corporate and business-related Political Action Committee (PAC) contributors. The study is more or less a compilation of publicly available data from the 2005-2006 election cycle.

Institute spokesman Ian Ivey says, although they do not draw any conclusion from the data, it is published on their website so browsers can see whether companies line up with their political views.

"People who visit our website and take a look at this can examine what companies that they do business with and they can decide whether they want, for example, to have a membership at Costco or at Sam's Club. Or if they want to buy Hershey's candy bars or Nestle candy bars, and so on," Ivey explains. "And there are differences among companies and how they give, and how they use their money for philosophical purposes."

For example, the study found that the PACs of Hershey and Nestle both contributed about $30,000 during the 2005-2006 election cycle. Hershey gave 100 percent of that money to conservative candidates, while Nestle sent 42 percent of its contributions to liberals. Shoe company Nike gave 80 percent to conservatives and 20 percent to liberals.

In a Leadership Institute news release, President Morton C. Blackwell notes that this study gives the consumer the power to frequent businesses that share the same values and belief systems. With information obtained from the Federal Election Commission, the report also provides an easy way for a patron to learn about the giving patterns of well-known businesses.

Access to the complete study is available at the Leadership Institute's website.

The Lowa's are well made, that's for sure. Most shoes seem cheap in comparison.

For dress shoes, E.T.Wrights (made in eastern USA) are the best made shoes I've found.

I wear Bruno Magli’s. I’m not really fond of how they look or feel, but I sure don’t get any lip from my white women.

Mephisto sorta sandals for dress up summer.

Cole Haan loose weejuns for really dress up summer.

Saucony hiking shoes.

Clark desert chukkas choclate brown for winter

Lacrosse rubber 800 for hunting

Crockett and Jones brown suede Tetburys .......my only indulgence

Johnston and Murphy penny loafers

My wife has around 4-500 pair of shoes....she would only buy Louboutin if we could afford it.

I’m not sure shoes mean much...I buy for comfort. I know many of mine are lib looking shoes but I am far from that.

If they're worn thin from working, they're conservative. If they're worn thin from shambling around Haight-Ashbury stoned out of your mind, then they're liberal.

If they're black, leather, and stomping on a pachoulli-stinking leftist agitator, they're conservative. If they're black, leather, cost $1000 or more, and are only seen on the red carpet at the Oscars, they're liberal.

1) Nike tennis shoes right now at work. According to this list Nike gave 45/55 to Rep/Dem, but 80/20 to conversative/liberal. Not sure how to reconcile that, but I’ll take the latter number since I have no doubt about LI’s conservatism having taking classes from them. And also cause I like these shoes.

2) Sketchers black leather zip-up boots to look snazzier and more formal. Very versatile.

3) Bostonian black leather dress shoes for suits.

4) Nike velcro sandals for water activities.

I wear my shoes forever. No $1000 one-time only pairs for me.

Hope I pass the conservative shoe test.

I know I'm a lesbian...I think about women at least 20 times an hour.

For dress up I wear Justin Ropers, when I ride my bike, I wear HD Boots, at work I wear Red Wings, Wal Mart tennis shoes or GB shoes...

I normaly wear a pair of REDHEAD hiking boots.
When I'm not wearing those I wear a pair of steel toed work boots.
When wearing neither of those you can find me in a pair of white tennis shoes or black dress shoes.

I think I'm conservative but............

No. I can say without qualification that I’m a man—and therefore cannot be a lesbian—and I’ve been in love with and married to the same fabulous woman, who shares my bed every night, for many years.

LOL. I have about 3-4 pairs of Bruno Magli's. They're to die for.

Though ever since I discovered Gucci shoes, it's tough to wear anything else.
