LEBANON, Virginia (AFP) — Democrat Barack Obama late Tuesday launched his most scathing attack yet on his Republican White House rivals' reformist credentials, likening their approach to putting "lipstick on a pig."
"We've been talking about change when we were up in the polls and when we were down in the polls," Obama told a rally here as surveys suggested John McCain and Sarah Palin have overhauled his lead for the November 4 election.
"The other side, suddenly, they're saying 'we're for change too.' Now think about it, these are the same folks that have been in charge for the last eight years," the Illinois senator said to a crowd of 2,400 people.
"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap up an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough," he exclaimed to a standing ovation.
In accepting the party's vice presidential nomination, Alaska Governor Palin joked at the Republican convention last week that the only difference between a hockey mom like herself and a pitbull was "lipstick."
True to the pitbull tag, Palin has been savaging Obama daily on the campaign trail as McCain presents their Republican ticket as true change that will shake up Washington, salvage the economy and protect the nation from foreign threats.
While Obama rallied voters in Lebanon, Virginia, the Republicans earlier were in Lebanon, Ohio, where Palin repeated her widely queried claim that she had said "thanks, but no thanks" to a notorious "bridge to nowhere" in Alaska.

I don't feel happy that the Dems are going down in this fashion...I actually feel a disgrace for our Country that this is what one of our two parties has sunk too.
The MSM will ignore this blatantly misogynistic remark by Obama, all the while thinking up questions like “who is the President of Azerbaijan?” to ask of Palin, then run it 24/7 if she can’t answer.
The media has had 18 months to ask Obama tough questions. All they’ve thrown at him is their bras and their panties.
They’ve ignored every Obama gaffe, and are just waiting for their “Potatoe” moment to skewer Palin.
The MSM has gone completely overboard and will now do anything and everything to get Obama elected.

When I first heard the “lipstick” one-liner about the hockey mom bull dog thing, I thought to my self, how long before the lefties call her a pig. I honestly didn’t expect Obamanation to be stupid enough to say it him self during a stump speech. This should backfire big time, I don’t even think the goons in the MSM can cover up for him now.
Who is it that often insults their opponents by calling them pigs? Bhuddists? Mormons?
If Obama thinks Sarah Palin is a pig, what does that say about all those women who don’t look nearly as sharp as the Governor?

This is rivaling McGovern-Eagleton and the subsequent rejections by several potential replacement VP candidates until Sargent Shriver accepted. Except at a much faster meltdown it appears.
I’ll never forget a button worn by a GOP student that had the names of VP candidates in increasingly smaller font with an “X” thru the name . . . until it got down to “Shriver” in barely readable type! LOL

DUers are thrilled to death that he punched Palin below the belt. They are reading this as deliberate, which is why I think the National media is picking it up.
This reminds me of the ending of that movie the Dead Zone. Except instead of holing up a baby to be shot, the candidate calls a female VP candidate a pig in lipstick.
