ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- After millions of dollars and 19 months pursuing a U.S. Senate seat, comedian Al Franken sought Tuesday to nail down the Democratic nomination in his childhood home of Minnesota.
The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member, author and radio show host came in as the clear favorite in a seven-way primary to determine Republican Sen. Norm Coleman's fall challenger. Coleman also had a primary opponent an expatriate living in Italy.
Minnesota voters joined those in six other states and the District of Columbia in deciding general election matchups. Another empty suit. People really can’t see this?????
I keep hearing about primary contests.... I thought these things were all done weeks ago. Do they have a split primary? One date for president and one for the rest of their races???
Just think of all the “sperience” Franken got while on Saturday Night Live.
I don’t really count snorting lines in a sketch writer’s office as political experience. If it were, John Belushi would be president.
Well Bluto did make it to the Senate.
I’ll be crossing over and voting the dem ballot tonight after work in order to vote for Franken’s nearest rival...
You’ve got that right.
so did Barack Obama . . . sssnnnnnnnnnnnnnt!
Franken, Obama, etc are the neo-Bolsheviks. Economic rationality and individual liberties be damned - its all about power of the mob and who controls the mob.
It worked so well in Russia, China, Cuba, Cambodia, Germany, Venezuela, why not try it here?
tax reforms, tax reforms, tax reforms . . . no welfare!
If the people who actually pay taxes refuse to pay taxes, who is going to pay for all these “great social programs?
that is how we shut them down. there will never be an out and out communist revolution in the United States.
A lot of states split - eg California - Pres Primary March, Cong Primary in June
Where was Jesse Ventura Governor?
I remember reading that recently he held a speech and only one person showed up.
