Governor Sarah Palin! Or, actually, what she signifies.
We've often stated on FR that if the Republicans would only run true conservatives then we'd win more elections. We'd keep the White House, build conservative majorities in congress, replace liberal activist judges with original intent constitutionalists, and eventually overturn Roe v Wade and begin rolling back some of the damage inflicted upon our beloved republic by the socialists and liberals.
John McCain's bold choice of the unabashed pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-liberty, small government, strong defense, fiscal conservative, Sarah Palin, signifies a return to conservatism within the Republican Party.
And the fact that Republicans and conservatives of every stripe, including the Christian right are flocking to her side and that the conservative grassroots has been re-energized literally overnight is proof that when offered the choice of truly conservative candidates, conservatives and Republicans will react accordingly.
Even though I've stated in the past that I would not vote for McCain, I will be supporting this ticket. Governor Palin is a God-fearing, kick butt conservative and I'd much rather have her advising and standing in the wings for the presidency than Joe Biden. I'll definitely pull the lever for her. And I'll do all I possibly can to keep the America-hating Marxist Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House.
Do it for Life. Do it for Liberty. Do it for our troops. Do it for America!

I guess I was already resigned to it some months ago, sans clothespin even. Heck, now I may post a Palin sign in the front yard. :-)
I do agree that Palin makes it more palateable.
When I look back at what the true grassroots conservatives and citizens track record is when some in gubamint seek to do madness and even tho we may likely face more battles over immigration and who knows what else, I also know the core nucleus type folk, like here at FR and other astute&informed politically intense orgs, are always prepared and ready to bombard the phonebanks and mailboxes of their representatives and the WH or get the signs out as needed to get a message across clearly, yet again.
Judges do matter also, especially now when so many leftists are close to almost being century-old folk. I don’t expect any Souter or Kennedy appointments to the SCotUS from him. Or Lieberman or Huckabee either. ;-)
Plus,, It would be nice to see some new kids running around in the WH and Blair House ... and pets.

My gut tells me that McCain will retire after one term and Sarah would almost certainly be the next nominee. I think her best bet would be Bobby Jindal or Michael Steele.
Like you I could care less about a candidate’s race or gender, but I also realize that we will NEVER quit hearing about it until a black and a woman get elected. The irony is that after this election ALL of the viable female and minority candidates will be Republicans.

I think of the Palin pick as a type of conservative bank account. Before the pick, balance in the account was right at the minimum to achieve interest but not enough to really invest.
Right after the Palin pick, the bank accounts balance soared when money piled in from conservatives around the country.
Bottom line, McCain owes a huge debt of gratitude to the conservative base who got on board with Palin long before the media tick off middle America.
This only shows that he owes the base a debt of gratitude and a return on our investment.
An important point...we must not let up
McCain really is a great politician to have pulled you in and to have Rush calling him McBrilliant all in one fell swoop. I have gone from “hating McCain” to feeling ashamed for not knowing him a little better and not considering his military record more closely.

I thought I was listening to Jesse Jackson. He jumped right on that race card complaining that there weren’t enough delegates of color at the RNC.

I been preaching for McCain since I joined. I’ve received alot of backlash for it. I’ve seen him speak twice and was impressed. His immigration stance needs some work and, I hope he keeps to his word, no reform until our borders are secure. That gives us time to work on that flaw. For me, the choice was easy. Bho scares the hell out of me. NOBAMA!
Just think of it as sowing the seed for 2012.

I honestly believe, after watching Saddleback and McCain's choice of VP Palin....that McCain has changed his mind on us....the conservatives. Perhaps 28 years as a Senator made him forget where he came from, he was just another Washington bureaucrat. Maybe all this time on the campaign trail showed him what Americans truly believe, not what the media and his advisers spoon feed him.
He has just seen his run for presidency go from non-existent to very possible.....because of us, the conservatives. I hope he remembers this when he sits in the White House.

I have been very open about my views on this election. I was/am not about to hold my nose and vote for someone just to vote against 0bama. I have posted the exact same thing each and every time. If the Republican Party wants my vote, they have to EARN IT!
When Sarah Palin was added to the ticket, they finally earned my vote.
