Palin's Daughter Is Lucky
Heartford Courant ^ | 9.08.07 | ROBYN BLUMNER

Posted on 09/07/2008 8:28:27 PM PDT by rface

I find so-called "values voters" to be completely inscrutable.

First, their "values" seem to revolve entirely around their opposition to: abortion rights, promiscuity, gay marriage, sex-education and church-state separation. Values including compassion, tolerance, generosity and humanity do not apply.

But then, when these voters are confronted with politically conservative candidates who seem to defy the Christian Right's rigid prescription for moral behavior, they shrug. No biggie.

When I look at the ticket of McCain-Palin, I see a guy who was a playboy, who left his first wife after she stood by him, raising his children, until his release as a POW. I see a VP pick who gave birth a mere eight months after eloping, whose husband has had trouble with the concept of a designated driver, and whose pregnant 17-year-old daughter is unmarried.

But what really burns my begonias is not this explicit hypocrisy. It is that the Christian Right is positively jubilant over the fact that Sarah Palin's daughter intends to keep the baby and get married.......

I would fault Obama for a lot of things, but not the circumstances of his birth or the behavior of his parents. He is not responsible for the choices they made. (Though he should be grateful that his mother chose to have him.)

If I try to put myself in the shoes of the left, I can understand why they say we are hypocrites. What they don’t understand is that those on the right don’t claim to be perfect. (The teen pregnancy rate among conservatives is far from zero as is the abortion rate, though I’ll bet both are lower than for liberals.) The difference between lib/conservative is our attitude about the mistakes we make. Conservatives accept responsibility for their own actions and try to fix it by doing the right thing. Liberals try to fix it by ducking the responsibility.

Where to start with this article. I'm not in the mood for it tonight. Hypocrisy?

Bristol Palin will do fine, of course, with Mom's stature and money. Others are not so lucky.

So, "Robyn"? (And what in the hell is it with that name "Robyn? Is that the politically-correct version of "Robin", or what?)

What were they supposed to do in your eyes, "Robyn"? Scrape the kid?

Instead Sarah decided to have the kid and take care of him? You got a problem with that?

Huh?

You and your Death Party got a problem with that?

What these leftists will never understand is that Christian faith does not impose a rigid morality which assumes we must be perfect at all times and in all matters. We can certainly strive for that, but in reality we know we are all sinners and we will all sin. What matters is how we deal with the consequences of sin. That is what can lead to redemption, which is what we all seek.

This article was obviously written before the order came down from above for all the orcs to lay off the Palin-bashing.

“First, their “values” seem to revolve entirely around their opposition to: abortion rights, promiscuity, gay marriage, sex-education and church-state separation. Values including compassion, tolerance, generosity and humanity do not apply.”

Why do the libs think that they have a lock on compassion, tolerance, generosity and humanity? They lack any compassion for a defenseless, innocent fetus. They lack tolerance for protecting the life of an imperfect child in the womb. As a group, conservative Christians are probably the most generous citizens in the USA. Most liberal politicians financial disclosure data indicate that they are most often poor contributors to charity. When it comes to humanity, what can possibly be more inhumane than to take the life of an unborn fetus commonly known as a human life.

Let's see how many months go by before there is a marriage!

Think, medical coverage for the pregnant Bristol and the baby!

Her parents have the medical part covered not Levi..

If Levi Johnston, Bristol's intended, decides to support his new charge rather than complete college, he can expect to lose over $1 million in earnings over his working life.

I’m beginning to think that most of those on the left have never met a Repubican? The things they attribute to us are mostly the things they start doing if anyone disagrees with any of their ideas.

Robyn Blumner is a columnist and editorial writer at the St. Petersburg Times in Florida. Before turning to journalism, she was a public interest advocate with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Robyn graduated from Cornell University in 1982 and New York University School of Law in 1985. After passing the New York State Bar, she worked as a labor negotiator for a branch of the New York City Transit Authority and in the evenings volunteered with the American Civil Liberties Union’s Reproductive Freedom Project in New York.

In 1987 she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to become executive director of the ACLU of Utah. And in 1989 she moved to Florida to take over the organization’s offices there.

Her columns are syndicated by Tribune Media Services and appear in newspapers across the country.

"McCain was a playboy? When? He left his first wife, but many Vietnam vets had troubled marriages when they got home. Did anyone ever check to see who wanted the divorce in the first place?".

That McCain fooled around on his disfigured first wife was never a secret. That he was the one who left her for a new, young, rich love is also public knowledge. Some of McCain's old friends are still angered over how he treated his first wife who faithfully waited for him when he was in captivity. That's just part of the man.

I suppose one could say that Palin’s daughter is lucky that she isn’t a sloganeering moron, like the “writer” of this unoriginal drivel plagiarized from the DUng heap.

The stench of fear and desperation in this article is really amazing. The dems are going to have their heads handed to them this year on their two most precious issus: feminism and abortion. And it's going to be all their fault.

They threw HIllary under the bus because they'd rather be sexist than seen as racist, and now they have a significant percentage of 18,000,000 angry women willing to hold their noses and vote for McCain.

And now, aided by their messiah, "let them die if they survive an abortion" Obambi, they have raised the abortion issue. They're going to regret whapping the hornets' nest which is the conservative Republican base with this issue.

As a “values voter” from way back before values voters was identified as such, I see the author, Robyn Blumner, doesn’t get it. I wish she did, for if she did, she would become one of us.

Things happen in the lives of us all, “values voter” or not, liberal or conservative. It is how we deal with those things that makes the difference. When repentance and contrition are there, the admonition to “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” carries a lot of weight.

What any person is far outweighs what they were.

Have sex, get pregnant, get married.

It’s what our parents did, and what our grandparents did.

studies have shown that when it comes to actually DOING something for others, conservatives walk the walk and leftists just do the talk...

I am not at all surprised that conservatives accept Sarah Palin and all of her "affairs" and her pregnant dtr and her one time DWI husband.......we afterall, acknowledge that sin exists...and we try to hate the sin, not the sinner...
