ELDORADO, Texas — When a grand jury meets here later this month, criminal indictments could be handed down against more members of the Fundamentalist LDS Church.

Some of that evidence has been used in child-custody cases over the hundreds of FLDS children taken into state protective custody during the raid. Texas Child Protective Services has said it has evidence of at least 10 underage marriages. A CPS caseworker testified during a court hearing last week that an investigation revealed "48 percent of the men at the ranch were involved in underage marriage practices."

"Sheriff Doran advised affiant that Becky Musser has provided him with information regarding the FLDS on more than 100 occasions over the past four years, including as recently as April 8, 2008, and that, on each occasion, that information has proven to be reliable, true and correct," Wilson wrote in the probable cause statement.
Becky Musser is a sister of Elissa Wall, who was the star witness in Utah's case against Jeffs. Musser also testified at the trial and was married to Jeffs' father, Rulon, when she was a teenager.

The FLDS Church and some of its members have filed legal challenges to have the search warrants and any evidence tossed. A hearing has been scheduled Oct. 1.

Notice how that 48% leads from a minimum count of 12 men to up to 392 participants in the game of debauching underage young girls.
Not to justify this conduct, but where is the equivalent indignation and parallel investigation into the thousands of pregnancies and births for underage, unwed mothers who end up on welfare and ADC and will not identify the men who fathered their babies?
This is certainly selective prosecution, and perhaps even persecution because of their race, religion and life style.
If the FLDS men were minorities and just hit the girls and run like an NBA team the government wouldn't be showing this kind of interest.
But I thought we were told by very important Freepers that all these charges would be thrown out AND nothing happened anyway?
I saw that 48% figure and laughed myself halfway into unconsciousness. What a clever way of saying 12 of 'em are in the bag! (minimum).

Freepers have been pissed that the government focused on the children instead of the male adults. They are also pissed that a government that swore the children were in danger, still have not removed the MEN from the farm three months after the children were returned to it.
With a trumped up original excuse for a warrant, yes some Freepers have been pissed about abuse of due process and the lack of attention to Constitutional guarantees. That's no defense of the FLDS. It's a defense of due process and Constitutional guarantees, so they are there when you and I need them.
And frankly, it's an embarrassment that some Freepers still can't understand these concepts.

Where is the indignation? I think most here are against sex with minors, no matter where it occurs.
Where is the parallel investigation? Cases where a complaint is filed, are investigated. As for being parallel, there are other investigations into ‘religious cults’ and there have been at least two other ‘raids’ with arrests, in Texas.
Not race, not religion, but a life style that includes illegal activities, under the guise of religion.
Many of the FLDS men did ‘hit’ and ‘run’. As soon as the cops showed up.
I don’t know where you have been, but that information has been available for a while now.
All were ‘returned’ to their legal (female, mostly) guardian or parent, except for one.
About half still remain under CPS supervision.
