John McCain has moved ahead of Barack Obama in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking, 48% to 45%, following last weeks Republican convention. This is McCains best showing since May.More ...

Florida has always been in the bag for McCain IMHO.
Now with Sarah, conservatives are electrified here.
Yeah, like it was in 2000 for Bush.....Florida is a must win for McCain...
I work with a woman who is active in the Dem party, holding fund-raisers and the like. She's one of those kool-aid drinkers who thought the MSM assault would force Palin off the ticket.
I knew it had been a great week when she announced that she'd be leaving work early on Friday because she needed a “mental health break.”
If Himself has to make a campaign stop in NY, it’s over.
There are McCain ads on TV - nothing (yet) from BHO.
The crowds at Cedarburg Wisconsin and Colorado Springs were UNBELIEVABLE!!!
As someone mentioned these are just the registered voters, where dems always lead because they have a bunch of non-voting hippies and college students who tend to not vote when the time comes. If they did a likely voter poll McCain would be up at least a couple of points more.
I think we’ll go for McCain here in Florida- and I think Rove’s numbers from last week pre-Palin are going to begin shifitng.
I know it seems unlikely- but McCain could actually get Michigan. Between the mayor of Detroit and the UNpopularity of their governor- it’s a possibility.
“by tuesday he will be over 50%”
he=McCain???
How does the rich man’s party not carry RI, CT, CA and NY?
I refuse to get exuberant since this isn’t Nov 2.
Sorry, I did not see post number #39! I cannot imagine that PA, MI, MN, VA, and FL are “in play”.
The methodology used there says you have to lead 11+ to be considered strong.
This backs up the Zogby poll.
Bounces fade. This one will, too.
I can’t think of anything worse right now than a McCain lead well in excess of 5%. Big leads generate spectacular maneuvers by the opposition (Hillary).
Better that McCain lead by 3% consistently through and including the election.
In addition, they have excellent shot at "Obama" states PA, NM, MN, WI and MI which will take it to 341 EV.
I realize that MI, WI and MN have not gone Republican in a while but "hockey mom" Sarah Palin has put them into play. They love their hockey up there.
Of course, the way things are going, we could do even better than that. However, it is important to curb the overenthusiasm and campaign like we are 10 points behind no matter how much the polls have us ahead.

LOL!!
... Even if Joe doesn't know it yet.
So that’s why Obama is spending his time attacking Palin. He knew what was coming. His internals must be showing much worse numbers than those.
