Hurricane Ike is the fifth tropical cyclone of the 2008 hurricane season to threaten U.S. Gulf Coast states.
Reports from Turks & Caicos Islands describe 80 per cent of homes damaged or destroyed. On Sunday, Hurricane Ike's position just north of Hispanola was hampering relief efforts for devastation incurred by Hurricane Gustav and Tropical Storm Fay. The death toll in Haiti from Gustav reached 200 people.
Florida Governor Charlie Crist held a press conference Sunday morning shortly after a Hurricane Watch was issued for the Florida Keys.

You're surrounded, "I've got the enemy just where I want him." lol.
As I’ve said many times, it’s going to take a massive head injury from flying debris before the wethead reporters come in from the storms. This will be followed by a week of reporters mourning their brave colleague. Then we’ll have to watch the rest of them reporting through their hotel room windows during hurricanes. Sigh.
It rally does. I wish he’d just get finished already! (of course I hope he dies out in the Gulf, that would be lovely!)
susie
That is actually very funny.
I needed that.
Thanks
LOL--"we have met the enemy, and he is us."
Advil doesn’t work for me. I take 2 excedrine migranes and one ibuprophen per my neurologists advice. Works more or less, but sometimes, nothing really does. I’m sure it’s the barometric pressure. It’s REALLY bad when we get a real hurricane.
susie
Advil is ibuprofen.
Oh silly me, see what a headache does?! Well, it doesn’t work by itself! ;)

Ike obviously hasn't watched any of the old westerns. Nobody falls for the "box canyon" maneuver anymore.
The rats sure did with the Barracuda!
“We’ll head him off at the pass.”
“Head him off at the pass? I hate that cliche...*gunshot*”
lol. Too funny. Good way to look at it though.
We may end up sharing this storm with CC

Isn’t that the truth? Yall think since the models have started going up I can stop cleaning house and over-preparing? I’m getting tired.
I was definitely a victim of what we call down here cabin fever.
Let me know when you quit. I’m already tired, and there’s 1000 miles to go.
Thanks for the laugh!
One of the locals in Key West(during a live broadcast that I saw) scared away a tv rookie from Miami telling him that the baracudas would bite his feet if he insisted on standing in the water. It was a riot the guy really believed him as well.
