Maureen Dowd: Clash of the Titans
NYT ^

You know what Im thinking, because youre thinking it, too.
If Barack Obama had chosen Hillary Clinton as his running mate, we would now be looking forward to the greatest night in the history of American politics: the Oct. 2 vice presidential debate between Ma Barker and Sarah Barracuda.
Now, alas, well have to wait until 2012 when the two fiercest competitors on the trail will no doubt face off in the presidential debate, with Palin still riding high from her 2008 field-dressing of Obama (whos now back in the Senate convening his subcommittee on Afghanistan).

Dowdy is almost funny.
If she could get over her affectation for strong women, she might be able to get a man.

Three things turned this election around: 1. Saddlebrook. McCain completely showed up Obama and re-established himself with many conservatives.
2. Obama picked co-liberal Biden. Hillary would have given Obama enough experience credentials, would have unified the party, and would have had more appeal to independant voters. Biden only gave Obama some so-called gravitas.
3. McCain picked Palin. Palin delivers. The base is excited, the party is united, and even independants move towards McCain. Game, set, match.

If if, ands, and buts were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas. Dowd gets coal every year with this year being no different. And what may have happened if Hil was on the ticket, no change, we would still have cleaned their respective clocks, whomever was on top. . .

Dowd would be well-advised to stick to simple cattiness, her primary stock in trade. Her attempts at parody are clankingly unfunny. If Iowahawk ever wrote something as tone-deaf as this, he’d immediately beat himself to death with his mouse.

No, Maureen, I don’t know what you’re thinking, because I remain unconvinced that you actually think in the first place.

When Maureen Dowd concedes its best to wait til 2012, I can hear the Fat Lady singing!
