It seems Fox News and some far-right blogs are excited about the latest in a series of lies from the McCain campaign -- the notion that thousands of American flags from the Democratic convention were going to be thrown away.

Like far too many of the stories pushed by the McCain campaign, and embraced by Fox News and far-right blogs, it's not true.

The photo of the flags in the black trash bags are those that were NEVER distributed: They are all rolled up and clear, in uniform sets EXACTLY in order and in EXACT lines of uniform stick position in even rolls just like they come off the machines.

Check this:
The democrats - at NO time - ever waved or displayed 12,000 flags in public. (I could imagine they might have waved 100, maybe 1000 - but I actually never saw even half that amount (500) on the screen images.

It seems to me the three bottom pictures have nothing to do with the top. But if you have never used a garbage as a storage container, you don't live in the real world. I put my hunting cloths in one every year and throw them in the back of the truck beside the four-wheeler. That way they don't get wet if it rains.

I think if it is make up someone needs to walk the plank.

So, if the democrats (er, CBS) is claiming that the American flags were going to be re-used/re-issued/re-cycled, why do they show US a photo of brand new flags still wrapped in their original black garbage bags laid on an inside carpeted floor, when Fox says the flags were found OUTSIDE (still wrapped in the same garbage bags) abandoned with the other trash on a loading dock?

It would be nice to know when the picture of the bags in the CBS were taken. Could this be a picture before the convention started?

I take it you are referring to the pic where the flags are neatly rolled and in large clean black plastic bags? Perhaps there were some that were never used. But there were clearly many discarded by the large crowd. The vets claim about 12,000 were there. And how do you not take an American flag given to you at such an event home with you, at least as a memento.

That photo alone says it all. It’s just insane that we have a candidate for President who hates America, and whose followers hate America.

The only reason for someone like that getting into power of a country he hates is to hurt it from the inside.
