Obama made his first direct criticism of Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin on Saturday, saying she pretends to oppose spending earmarks when she actually has embraced them.
Speaking to 800 people at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds in Terre Haute, Ind., the Democratic presidential nominee ridiculed McCain and his running mate, the Alaska governor, for describing themselves as agents of change at last week's GOP convention.
"Don't be fooled," Obama told the crowd surrounding him in a large barn. "John McCain's party, with the help of John McCain, has been in charge" for nearly eight years.
McCain has vowed to wipe out earmarks, which are targeted funding for specific projects that legislators put into spending bills. As governor, Palin originally supported earmarks for a controversial $398 million Alaska project dubbed the "bridge to nowhere." But she dropped her support after the state's likely share of the cost rose. She hung onto $27 million to build the approach road to the bridge.

You can take a thousand statistics and find one that sounds horrible. Barry bases his criticisms on dollars returned to Alaska per person. It would look very bad for him if he did dollars per Alaskan taxpayer and compared it to someplace like Illinois. What if we were to show how much money Alaska contributed to the US vs how much it received?
What if we compared federal dollars per square mile compared with say...Delaware?
Sorry. I read it was for $100,000. But, yes, you will not hear about that in the MSM.
Axelrod and Obama need to understand that Obama will continue to be rejected the more contrived his campaign becomes. Obama people are trying to manipulate their way to the White House. But what they don't understand is that they come off as contrived.
After Wed night, Sarah Palin will forever be remembered as authentic. Her love for her husband, life and our country is authentic. Her flawed family is authentic. Her rise in politics is authentic as well as shocking in today's poll driven billion dollar political industry.
Authentic is the last word anyone would use in regards to Obama and Axelrod, one a resident Chicago career politician, the other a Chicago career marketing guru. Both men are corrupt. Hope their corruption is exposed on the national stage.
You mean the state earmark that he gave them right after they bumped his wife’s salary by something like $200,000 a year?
Didn’t Barack recently tell a reporter he wasn’t attacking her (yeah, right) because he was running for President against McCain? Does this mean he’s conceding the presidency and now auditioning for Vice President? LOL
I just stole it from another thread.
Illinois VS Alaska
In 2008, which State has earned the reputation for Reform via Palin & which state has the reputation for Chicago Corrupt Politians via Obama????
Obama is on record for encouraging and passing law, which enable his girls to kill his very own grand children.
Obama is a Monster.
Obama: When You Buy Him, He Stays Bought.
Obama Was Against Attacking Sarah Palin Before He Was For It.
He was against it on Thursday, Sept 4, 2008.
He was for it on Friday, Sept 5, 2008.
800 vs 11,000. If we were talking just a week ago I would think 800 was too high for a mccain rally and 11,000 too low for Obama. Something has clearly changed.
well, we can. I don’t think Obama really wants to know what Biden’s record was on earmarks...
Obama and Biden pork record:
http://councilfor.cagw.org/site/DocServer/2007_Senate_Ratings_Final.pdf?docID=3242
STATE SENATOR 2007 LIFETIME
Arizona McCain (R) 100% 88%
Delaware Biden (D) 0% 22%
Illinois Obama (D) 10% 18%
and Ted Stevens/Murkowski
I thought it strange he was here too. But so many states are so close or with Obama slightly ahead, even ND.
I don't expect a big blowout for either side. Sixty days is forever in politics and things can turn around in a day. Just as McCain did it last Friday.
The Dems are not through. The Chicago machine is behind this Obama. Tough times are ahead, just keep praying.
That was exactly my thought. This is becoming Obama vs. Palin.
The entire tone and debate of the election has shifted and the McCain camp is now dictating the terms of the debate.
True.
