UTICA, New York - Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin left St. Paul, Minnesota, with a smallish bounce overall and some energy in key demographic groups, as the race for the presidency enters a key stage and voters begin to tune in to the contest, the latest Zogby Interactive poll finds.
The McCain/Palin ticket wins 49.7% support, compared to 45.9% backing for the Obama/Biden ticket, this latest online survey shows. Another 4.4% either favored someone else or were unsure.

When he goes to the tenths of a point, they’re really in trouble. Wouldn’t he normally round McCain up to 50%?

When I think of Zogby's special sauce... I'll take that... the lead should hold. Whether it grows remains to be seen.

A 4% lead is “small” for Republicans and “significant” for the Obambi and his blundering buddy. BWAHAHAHA. I wouldn’t trust Zogby if they told me the sun rises in the east.

Wow. If this momentum will hold it will re-write how the congressional seats are expected to swing.
To: Free ThinkerNY
Rounding that 49.7% up to %50 would be little difficult for Zogby.

The MSM hasn’t caught on to that yet. The excitement over McCain/Palin means a lot to those ‘down ticket’ races.

In recent history the republicans have been down what-—6% to 10% at this point and have still won? If they pick up another 6%-10% from here, it may be an easy victory.

Pollster John Zogby: "Clearly, Palin is helping the McCain ticket. She has high favorability numbers, and has unified the Republican Party. The striking thing here in this poll is that McCain has pulled ahead among Catholics by double-digits.

The bounce is more than 4 isn’t it? Wasn’t McCain behind before the bounce?
To: Free ThinkerNY
Weird that Zogby has been the pollster showing the most McCain support. I don't trust the guy for a second.
That said, his online interactive poll in 2004 was one of the most accurate ones out there for the Kerry - Bush race.
To: DugwayDuke
I agree with you Duke. There is going to be big turnout in Districts where conservative dems have won seats from Republicans in 2006 and I don’t think those folks are gonna be in the mood to split their tickets. Not the conventional wisdom I know.

Take the results with grain of salt. There’s always a chance this is a set up for ‘Obama: the coming-back kid’ story in mid October.

Do they have the polls based on electoral votes? How are the swing states doing?
To: Free ThinkerNY
McCain's favorability rating increased from 50% favorable last week to 57% favorable now, a significant jump that indicates the GOP convention was a success. Among independent voters, 61% now have a favorable impression of him, compared to just 49% who said the same a week ago. Nearly half - 49% - said they had a favorable opinion of Barack Obama, while 50% they had a negative impression of him. Among independent voters, 47% gave him favorable marks, compared to 46% who said the same thing last week.
