The curfew for East Baton Rouge Parish is still in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Baton Rouge Police Chief Jeff LeDuff said Saturday.

Although more and more people are getting power, a large percentage of people still don’t have it, LeDuff said, adding that the nighttime hours are the most dangerous.

Baton Rouge got hit by Gustav far harder than we have been hearing in the news. Damage in La (other than NOLA) is WORSE than in Katrina. This was my hometown, and friends/relatives in the area are having a really rough go of it.

Pray for the people of La; help them out as you can.

“...Nighttime hours are the most dangerous.”

No kidding, with the deadbeats coming up from New Orleans, who could feel safe with no lights at night?

Exactly right.

My people are siting on their porches in the evenings... armed to the teeth!

Hang on folks; it ain’t over yet.

Just got off weather underground. Ike is forecasted to get into the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday night. The various individual computer models that the national hurricane center average to make their forecast all agree to that. Based on five of six models it looks land falls range from Thursday near Mobile AL to Friday somewhere near Gustav’s landfall. The sixth one pushes it further west and if Ike tracks close to that prediction Texas will catch it a couple of days later.

Living the Florida panhandle I ain’t taking no chances - a slight turn to the east and I am in Ike’s sights.

Good luck to those who Gustav hit - a double tap from mother nature is a real b*t*h.

Yeah... I’m watching the situation closely from my home in Atlanta.

I have two sisters and a brother in Baton Rouge, as well as all my childhood friends. My Mom and Dad live in Slidell, as does another brother.

My parents rode out Gustav in Slidell: no damage or real inconvenience. However, I told them that if Ike stays on projections, they WILL evacuate! I’ll not have my parents (mid 70’s and early 80’s) deal with this kind of disruption. Not if I can do anything about it.

My Mom & Dad and two sisters also live in Slidell. I was able to convince them to evacuate to my house near Mobile for Gustav. I’m afraid if Ike goes near them, I’ll have to go tie them up and kidnap them. They all said never again. I’m buying rope in case I need it.

Good luck to your folks.
