Key Alaska allies of John McCain are trying to derail a politically charged investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner in order to prevent a so-called "October surprise" that would produce embarrassing information about the vice presidential candidate on the eve of the election.
In a move endorsed by the McCain campaign Friday, John Coghill, the GOP chairman of the state House Rules Committee, wrote a letter seeking a meeting of Alaska's bipartisan Legislative Council in order to remove the Democratic state senator in charge of the so-called "troopergate" investigation....

How about just getting out the facts of the matter early enough so that it isn’t fodder for the MSM when they should be covering what the candidates actually say?
The report wasn’t due out for awhile, and now the Democratic chairman of the committee wants to move it up to before the election. But this is typical of Democrats, blaming others for the political dirty tricks that they pull all the time. And by Democrats, I am intentionally pointing to these two authors at Newsweek.
Wait, who am I kidding. It could conclude she can walk on water and the press would still spin it as if it discovered she eats live babies.
There is nothing to derail. Period. What they are trying to do is make sure the truth comes out and not a bunch of BS lies.
First,I don’t trust Newsweak. The McCain camp isn’t doing this directly, and you can be sure the democrat leading this investigation is on a mission to cause trouble for Palin.
The Dim doing the probe is already discussing the results.
Sounds real fair.
Newsweek is owned by the viruletly anti-semitic Washington Post. As we all recall they campaigned against Senator George Allen two years ago with such information as the fact his mother was Jewish during WWII.
Trooper in TrooperGate Probe Calls VP pick "absolutely wonderful for Alaska"
E-mail from Palin to Alaska State Troopers regarding Wooten 8/10/05
Of course, which is why it is nearly impossible to have a fair investigation into any issue that has political overtones.
Liberals=reporters have lost all credibility.
Palin welcomes the investigation.
Frankly, it doesn’t matter what they find...no one believes a word these rags tells us anymore anyway.
From everything I’ve been able to read , that Trooper was a real pig and I don’t care if she “abused” her power to get him fired , she did the people of her state a great service
getting that pig fired.
Just get the details out now. That way, when the official results come in even if they rule against her it won’t matter. People will already have factored it in. Its only if it comes out of the blue that it would do damage.
Get it out now. People will be inclined to sympathize with her point of view whatever the legal technicalities.
It’s clear that the left supports perpetrators of domestic violence. That trooper is their hero.
I agree with the Dems. If I were a State Trooper, I would defend my right to drink and drive and, if I had a stepson, I would taser the hell out of him, especially if he was red-headed. < /sarc>

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
I believe she was Jewish before and after WWII as well.
The single thing that hurt Allen the most was the "macaca" comment, and the Washington Post went all out using that story against him. In the end the election was extremely close, and any one of several factors could be considered decisive (like the overwhelming Muslim vote for the Democrat). The loss of that seat gave the Senate to the Democrats, but George Allen's inability to handle the "macaca" nonsense showed that he wouldn't have been the candidate the Republican Party needed for President in 2008.

As I said in another thread, we fired troopers for less than this. In my outfit, he would have been terminated.
