Susan Reimer, columnist for the Baltimore Sun, is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that people took exception to her tactless bashing of Governor Sarah Palin in her September 1 column, "A woman -- but why this woman?" In fact, Reimer is so upset that people where exercised enough to drop her a note, give her a call, or write an email about her baseless smearing of Palin that she says in her September 5 column that she feels "frightened." Do you want some cheese and crackers to go with that whine, Reimer?
On Monday, I wrote a column criticizing the McCain campaign for what I saw as a cynical attempt to gather in unhappy women voters by naming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin his vice presidential candidate and for exploiting the poignant story of her youngest child to appease the Republican Party's pro-life base... And then the storm began.
Reimer was shocked to find that her substance free, lie filled attack on John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin generated "More than 8,200 comments were posted to the column on The Baltimore Sun's Web site. I received more than 700 personal e-mails and about 50 phone calls."
Even worse for Reimer, her gutter scraping column was read by Rush Limbaugh and Brit Hume and was linked by Drudge as an example of the outrageous treatment that Palin has gotten at the hands of feminist media elites like Reimer.

The title is goofy. It might be the original, but it’s wrong. He means to say “Palin-Smearing Baltimore Sun Columnist...”
The hyphen makes it clear the two words combine as an adjective.
Without it, the title reads as if Palin is smearing a BalSun columnist.
Really... that's so old school - if you didn't know it is a bad business model in 2008.
Maybe you should get a real job like cleaning toilets at Motel 6 or something.
“Your arrogance, smugness, & pretentiousness...”
Wow! There for a minute, I thought you were talking about the big zer “O”!
Here’s a better video version that’s more clear and not as blurry. It’s the official RNC version.

1. Actions now have consequences- it's that internet thing, don't you know.
2. Think before you type.
3. Try to gage reaction outside of your silly,self-centered, arrogant, know-it-all, “we all agree with ourselves” news rooms.
4. Try getting out with the real people once in awhile, while you still have a newspaper to print.
5. We don't like you, but we hope that you all get well paying jobs as “community organizers” when you various bird cage lines cease to exist.
6. Pfffffssssstttttsss.
7. Have a nice day!
I think the radical feminists hate Governor Palin for more than just the fact that she is gorgeous. They would be fine with her being attractive if she were a either a socialist or a hater of religion and family. In that regard, please read the article by Jeffrey Bell in the latest issue of The Weekly Standard.
That article focuses on the cultural left’s hatred of traditional religion and traditional family life (and Governor Palin is the embodiment of traditional religion and traditional family life), and the article contains the most persuasive writing I have seen as to the reasons for the left’s unhinged reaction to Governor Palin.
There may be a little more to it though. It may be that the Campbell Browns and Sally Quinns of the world are thinking deep down, “oh, my gosh, surely I wasn’t wrong in thinking I had to choose between a full family life and a career; surely Palin must be some kind of “white trash” boob (they are actually using the term “trailer trash”) that has overestimated her abilities.” It may be a little less personal with Brian Williams and other unhinged males, but even they may be afraid they, or their wives, or their close female friends have gotten it wrong.
To her credit, Sally Quinn seems to be realizing her mistake in prejudging Governor Palin. I suspect Campbell Brown, Nora O’Donnell, and others will not.
On the other hand, lots of this nonsense could just be the underlying assumption on both coasts (and we see it a lot) that conservative women from Red America are ignorant; and if they are good looking, they are ignorant sluts. Elitism on steriods!
Ever notice that it is a “freedom of speech” issue when they do it. To the left, it’s a “hate crime” when we do it?
I read this article the day it was posted here on FR. I then read the comments written after the article. The comments showed me that people are sick and tired of these so called journalists spewing their hate and mocking us day in and day out. I’m glad she’s so upset, what goes around comes around.
You are exectly right. When I pose this idea to most people thay think I’m being extreme or ‘over the top.’ History says that nothing could be further from the truth.
When you examine the pedigree of Leftist ideas, what you come to understand is that the abortion issue is one of the keystones to devaluing human life. This is something that is implicit in the ideology of the Left; it’s cast into their philosophical DNA.
Humans are things.
That the essence of it. Humans are fungible and ultimately disposable “assets”.
This is why you’ve got the likes of Margaret Sanger and Dr. Peter Singer doing their damndest to move the goalposts when it comes to defining life and humanity. Singer, for example, has argued that infants up to 28 months old don’t really have any cognitive ability that defines them as human. So it’s OK to ‘terminate’ them if the parent (or really, the State) so chooses.
Who lives, who dies. That’s the power they seek. They are all monsters, monsters from the deepest dark heart of of our existence and history is replete with the outcomes and the evidence of their sick Utopian ideas: slaughter and mass murder on a scale that beggars the imagination.
History also tells us what we must do to deal with them. As does my tagline.
Thanks lots.
That is exactly what I was going to say!
Wow, what an excellent, positive response.
“Susan Reimer has been a columnist for The Sun since July 1993 when, after 14 years covering sports, she was asked to write about life as a wife and the working mother of school-aged children. Her column appears on Sundays and Tuesdays.”
Sounds like she got her columnist job “to woo women...” OK, but if the Palin pick was the same thing (which it’s not) it’s a cynical, failed strategy according to her. Same as Sally Quinn, who said her failure as a TV reporter meant Sarah Palin shouldn’t be VP.
I really question the wisdom of that kind of column. when you put a reporter’s personality (which is alarmist to begin with) together with wife-and-mother issues, you’ve got a recipe for an all-out whinefest - kind of like Michelle Obama.
they must be as disorganized as the WaPo....6 years before I left the DC area and moved to Houston I canx the WaPo as I was fed up with their liberalism and out and out lies....would you believe that they continued to deliver it...heck, they may still be delivering it now and I left in January 1993....(had to get out of town when BillyBob was sworn in - didn’t want to be in the same city as that low life).....
Thanks! I’ve been cranking out dozens of these. It’s more fun than I’ve had the last two elections...
Great posts, both of you.
They were right. White is not slimming.
Their lies and smears have backfired with the people and they are desperate. And scared.
