Susan Reimer, columnist for the Baltimore Sun, is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that people took exception to her tactless bashing of Governor Sarah Palin in her September 1 column, "A woman -- but why this woman?" In fact, Reimer is so upset that people where exercised enough to drop her a note, give her a call, or write an email about her baseless smearing of Palin that she says in her September 5 column that she feels "frightened." Do you want some cheese and crackers to go with that whine, Reimer?
On Monday, I wrote a column criticizing the McCain campaign for what I saw as a cynical attempt to gather in unhappy women voters by naming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin his vice presidential candidate and for exploiting the poignant story of her youngest child to appease the Republican Party's pro-life base... And then the storm began.
Reimer was shocked to find that her substance free, lie filled attack on John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin generated "More than 8,200 comments were posted to the column on The Baltimore Sun's Web site. I received more than 700 personal e-mails and about 50 phone calls."
Even worse for Reimer, her gutter scraping column was read by Rush Limbaugh and Brit Hume and was linked by Drudge as an example of the outrageous treatment that Palin has gotten at the hands of feminist media elites like Reimer.

LET ‘EM WHINE !!! It’s proof positive that they have nothing of substance to attack.
If you go here you can send her an email about her column.
Stopped buying it about 15 years ago. I've had about 4 opportunities in that time period wherein I received a phone call solicitation from them and was able to tell them why I consider it unworthy to even line a birdcage. Not sure how you tell potential advertisers themselves, other than not to subscribe.
You know, whatever happens in November, this will be the most entertaining election I have ever been part of. The MSM is having a serious breakdown. They know it and much to there chagrin, everybody else knows it too. Thank you MSM!! Your arrogance, smugness, & pretentiousness is biting you right in the ass!!!
Schadenfreude baby!!!
*snert*
A stout, reasonably well-groomed, middle-aged woman. Married with two kids, one in college and one a Naval Academy grad.
It’s funny how these older women with reasonably decent family lives (this lady, Hanna Rosin, Peggy Noonan) are going totally buggy about Sarah Palin. It makes me wonder if they might have aborted Down’s Syndome babies.
Susan Reimer has been a columnist for The Sun since July 1993 when, after 14 years covering sports, she was asked to write about life as a wife and the working mother of school-aged children. Her column appears on Sundays and Tuesdays.
A collection of work, "Motherhood is a Contact Sport," was published in May, 1998.
Susan was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa., and attended Ohio University, where she earned a degree in journalism.
After working at the Associated Press wire service, the Pittsburgh Press and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and spending six months traveling around the country, Susan was hired by The Sun in 1979 as one of the first full-time women sportswriters in the country.
In that capacity, she covered the range of major sporting events from the Triple Crown of horse racing to the Americas Cup of yachting. She was reporting on the National Football League Colts when they departed for Indianapolis in 1984, just a month after her first child was born.
When her daughter arrived in 1986, Susan returned to work part-time and quit traveling. She became an editor at The Sun and helped the paper co-ordinate coverage of major events, including the Olympics.
Susan was winner in 2003 of the prestigious National Headliner Award for her column. Susan has also won the Vivian Castleberry Award for her writing about the lives of women and the MD-DC Press Association and the A. D. Emmart Memorial Prize for writing in the humanities for a story about the nature of forgiveness.
She lives in Annapolis with her husband, Gary Mihoces, a sportswriter for USA Today, and her two children: Joseph, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, and Jessica, a graduate of Annapolis High School who attends Penn State University.
The only noteworthy accomplishment is that her son is a Marine.
Well, she’s no Helen Thomas but she’s no Sarahcuda, either.
I think that more than anything, the feminist left hates her for not even considering an abortion of any of her children. But yes, they hate true femininity. They hate themselves and all of the natural behaviors that they fight to suppress.
Note to Newsbusters, I think you need a dash between Palin and smearing to avoid confusion.
Yes, I thought at first too that it was Palin who was doing the smearing.
Susan ought to be frightened—very frightened—not of her readers or anyone else, but of her own stupidity.
My email was among the 700 she claims she rec’d. I felt compelled to sent it because her article was so totally over the top and without a shred of any redeeming value.
What I wrote to this “person”:
I admit I’m a conservative, 62-year-old female who just retired from being a Sr Hr Manager for many years. When I started out I was a handful of women in a roomful of men at “personnel” association meetings. I know what it is like to be patronized and not being paid your worth.
But I persevered and had a successful career and personal life.
If Sarah Palin had been a liberal democrat you would be cheering her on - admit it -rather than making catty and hurtful remarks. You probably were a Hillary supporter, but Mrs. Palin did it on her own,not as a result of a well-known,politically connected husband. Your bias was showing, just be a 100th as brave as Sarah P and confess.
Your whining is one reason why I am a conservative. Take your lumps, not like a man, but like a Palin
One more thing I admire about Sarah Palin. Did you see the speaking heads at MSNBC carry on about the nerve of Sarah actually “declaring war” (Their words - not mine) on the press and how dare she challenge THEM??? Evidently three days of smear jobs on their part didn’t consist of “declaring war” - only Sarah’s attempts to defend herself. Gotta love the MSM - they are furious that anyone should challenge their obvious bias.
ROFL!!!!!!!!
Clever idea. Both our local daily papers (the one from the Big City and the one from the county seat) are leftist tripe. The county paper drops off a freebie often enough that we can use it to line the snake’s cage.
I actually DID laugh out loud at your post!
Good point. I doubt very many woman who have visited a scrape shop are going to vote McCain.
"I've had some abortions in the past and I don't want to feel guilty about it so I'm just going to hate Sarah Palin and her family instead!!!"
I say keep it up, columnists. Continue to self-destruct. Articles like this that do nothing but generate an avalanche of angry responses will sink them and help us.
Newsbusters needs to fix this, though: “Reimer is so upset that people where exercised enough to drop her a note...”
