Another thing that I find rather grating is his faux black accent. Obama did not grow up in or even near any African American community that might have spoken with an accent like that or used the phrases he sometimes uses, and he has obviously made a conscious, condescending effort to stoop to the common level and adopt this as part of his persona. If I were black, personally, I’d feel patronized and insulted; but I guess with Oprah running interference for him, he’s pretty safe from scrutiny among blacks.
