There was an Asian co-host on the show years ago. I actually liked her. I don't know if she was conservative or not but I honestly can't recall being annoyed with The View as often back then, either - it was before 9/11 IIRC.
FYI EVERYONE - I just went to The View website to see what the woman's name was that I was remembering and I couldn't find it (unfortunately the site also caused my browser to crash.) IIRC at all, it may have been Lucy Liu? If not, the woman I am remembering looked a LOT like her.
Anyway, here is what I found out at the website:
John McCain will be on The View on September 12, 2008. I'm kind of assuming that the segment(s) will also be viewable on YouTube after McCain's appearance and/or at the campaign site:

You're exactly right, Tublecane. Thank you for the correction. I knew Lucy Liu couldn't be right because she was in Charlie's Angels! LOL I thought - well, it could be POSSIBLE, but not likely!
I was right that it was before 9/11 and the Iraq War, so that is probably exactly why I didn't notice so much nastiness on The View - that and Clinton was in office so that probably explains a LOT, too! LOL
Come to think of it I remember them ripping on Bill Clinton for his indiscretions, so they weren't exactly all "sweet" towards him either... Clinton and Gore certainly weren't exposed to nearly as much vitriol on the show as Bush and Cheney are now though... That's for sure!
It looks like she is currently working for Oprah, so I assume that means she probably an Obamaite... Oh well... She did seem nice though - perhaps she's just not too bright? I still don't understand why otherwise seemingly bright people choose to embrace socialist/communist ideologies. They can't possibly think - even if they ARE nice people themselves - that everyone in the world is like that... I don't think I'll ever understand it really...
Anyway, here is her data from Wikipedia
