Dump A Looser VP

Posted on 09/05/2008 3:09:14 PM PDT by mrvirgo

Has any presidential candidate ever dumped his VP nomination and replaced him with some one who would help his chances? I ask since I wonder if Obama might get rid of Biden and replace him with Hilary or is Obama's gargantuan ego making him blind to the fact that his campaign is in big time trouble>

McGovern dumpded Eagleton after it came out that Eagleton had psych problems. McGovern lost big time.

I wouldn’t put a VP switch past the Democrats. They do a lot of this kinda “Bait & Switch” stuff of late. But it would have to come as a “Biden Resignation”. There’s no way the Presidential nominee can ‘fire’ his VP-designate without looking totally stupid. Picking a VP is the first Presidential-decision that gets made.

No. Biden is an asset to us.

1) Joe Biden is a non-factor in this election. He (who again?) isn’t mentioned anywhere. This election has become 2 against 1.

2) We now have an army of former Clinton supporters.

My favorite line in the whole convention was Giuliani advising Biden to, “Get it in writing.”

For that reason? No. Thomas Eagleton got dropped by McGovern when it came out he'd been hospitalized and undergone electro-shock therapy. But I assume that's not what you mean.

But I don't think Obama would agree with you that his campaign is in big-time trouble or that Biden is a liability.

The problem with this action is that obama is a bigger loser then Biden so to drop Biden would say what about obama?

He's probably looser after 5 o'clock.

But really, will the bookies be focusing on Biden's odds now, rather that Palin's?

Nope. It won't happen. Obama is stuck with Biden.
