McCain, Palin fire up Cedarburg crowd (how do I post my pics?)

At a packed street rally here this morning, Republican John McCain used his first post-convention stop to promise a war on special-interest influence and excessive partisanship in Washington, D.C.

"We're going to start to work for the people of this country," McCain shouted. "It's over for the special interests. It's over!"

The Arizona senator joined Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, his vice presidential pick, in front of an ice cream shop on a well-preserved main street the city says is virtually unchanged since 1900.

Without mentioning specifics in a brief address downtown, McCain said the duo would visit small towns across America to talk about real change.

Palin drew the loudest cheers and chants of "Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!" Both repeated popular lines from their convention speeches. McCain briefly touched on "tough times" facing job-seekers in Wisconsin and across the U.S. and promised lower taxes and better job training.

Palin focused mainly on the war in Iraq. She hit Democrat Barack Obama hard for opposing the troop surge.

If Obama's view had won out, she said, America would be less safe from al-Qaida, and it "would have left millions of innocent people to a violent fate."

The nominees chose one of the most reliably Republican counties in a hotly contested state to start the final two-month sprint in the marathon presidential race. Ozaukee County backed the Bush-Cheney ticket by 2-to-1 margins in both 2000 and 2004

(OK, the radio host was Rush...as I heard on 1400AM in Columbia, MO while grunting and sweating during a repair on my mole and crab-grass ravaged lawn!!!)

Wanna borrow my cat? Every day for the last week she has been waking me up in the morning with the sound of bones crunching as she sits under our bed and eats her daily mole catch.

Whoa! I’m jealous! Thanks for the report.

They’re all running scared, now. They already KNOW Sarah-cuda is going to be the first woman president of the USA. :)

This is the latest from the atheist, P Z Myers’ web site:

This is how we will lose - PZ Myers

Palin scares me, but what worries me more is that we will screw up again and hand the executive office over to another gang of losers, and we can’t afford that anymore. Now look at the open thread http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2008/09/palin_open_thread.php I set up last night, and you’ll see why I’m concerned. What did people do? They got distracted by irrelevancies, such as the opportunity to exercise a little macho sexism, and then that turned into a nasty, full-blown knife fight with everyone snarling at each other. This is exactly what the Republicans want, writ small on this little tiny island of the blogosphere.

That’s not how we’re going to beat back the troglodytes.

Palin is a stalking horse for failed social and economic and military policies. We don’t want to get drawn away from the important message of defeating those bad policies by the temptation of cheap shots at her appearance and sex, especially because those cheap shots make her look like a sympathetic victim and help advance the Republican agenda.

So please, think. Casual sexism plays into the hands of the bad guys on both sides. What frightens me most is that Palin got up and lied and said nothing of substance, and people are so distracted by the fact that she has breasts that the lies were allowed to slide by. This is how the Democrats can self-destruct, once again.

You finally got one right, PZ. This IS how you will lose.

Even totally united behind Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004 you couldn’t beat a dumbass draft dodging reborn alcoholic George “Shrub” Bush and his snake-oil sidekick Dick Cheney of all people. That’s pretty pathetic. This round you’ve got an even worse candidate that half of your own party thinks stole the nomination by cheating and dirty politics. Your party is shattered up the middle and you have the worst candidate in all the decades I’ve been paying attention. I knew Jack Kennedy and your nominee, PZ, is no Jack Kennedy.

Now the culture war is still on, the players are all the same on both sides, except this time we have an honest-to-God centrist war hero, even if he is an elitist beltway insider, and a little unheard of cutie, obviously a political savant, who in 30 minutes won the hearts and minds of every heretofore apathetic God fearing blue collar flyover family all across the nation and made them start caring about who wins this election not to mention is stealing a lot of the Hillary voters who wanted nothing more than a woman in the Whitehouse. If McCain wins then Palin, sooner or later, is going to become the first woman president of the United States as by the time she’s up for election to the top spot there won’t be any question of lack of experience. You are basically looking at teh American Margaret Thatcher. Get used to her. She’s going to be in your face for the next 16 years. It’s all over except for the tears and anger from your side that you were f*cked yet again. Write that down.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm mostly a dog-person, but might consider a cat.
(they seem to like me even more than I like them!!!)

When the series "Verminators" was running on The Discovery Channel,
I prayed they'd do a show on wiping out some nest of the most
foul lawn destructors...MOLES.

Sadly I didn't see all the episodes and the website of the company in
the show only mentions rats and gophers.

I have to live with my limited success for now.
I have driven those B@$tard moles from undermining my house's
foundation and wintering under a porch.

And as long as I draw breath, those b@$tards are gonna' winter somewhere else!!!

You are correct. Rush reported 40,000.

By the way. McCain’s TV audience surpassed ZerObama’s last night. It was 38.9 million. ZerObama received 38.3 million from his Greek Temple. Cost for the DNC to move ZerObama’s coronation to Invesco Field, $6 million. Cost to put McCain’s speech on the Cat Walk: Cat feed for One Cool Cat.

Yes, it be him, and she be right behind, but the light is bad and she be blocked out. Yes, me hearty, he was waving at me! I be nearly by meself where Spring street and Highland meet and where his bus made the turn.

By all accounts it was a grand day in Cedarburg, the sun shone brightly and a good time were had by all.

And on a personal note, Hi Mike (-:
