“What about Chuck Berry? Is he a McCain guy?”
Chuck Berry is a Chuck Berry guy. Period!
Hypocritical.....
Hey hey hey the guy who played Brooks and Dunn at the democrat convention told us it was perfectly OK to use songs without permission.
Absolutely.
Reportedly, one of the sisters was so incensed that she sent a personal missive to McCain, asking him-
“How do I get you alone?”
Ann Wilson was a notorious cokehead throughout her career. Countless trips to rehab.
She’s tried to blame her massive weight gain on a thyroid condition, but she suffers from the same issues that made another notorious cokehead Kirstie Ally blow up. They replace drug addiction with food addiction to compensate.
Re: Im not a big fan of Heart, but the artists own their own intellectual property
They do?
They can walk into any sports bar they do not like and demand their music be stopped from playing?
Is this America or the Soviet Union?
According to Rush, Chrissy Hines gave him permission to use her song.
I have not read their contract, but I participate in another forum which is maintained by an artist whom I am a fan of.
Much of his catalog has been ripped off by unethical music companies and people downloading his older music he doesn’t have any “control” over. He doesn’t receive a penny for it.
I stand by my statement. An artist has intellectual property rights over what he creates. Are you questioning that?
That probably ticks off Ann & Nancy as well.
Gretchen covered their songs at the R & R Hall of Fame Induction. Now she turns out to be an evil Republican.
BTW...she’s REAL evil. She supported Fred Thompson.
If they don’t want their music played by certain people then they should rescind their publishing deal with ASCAP....
3. What Does the ASCAP License Do?
ASCAP gives you a license to entertain your customers, guests and employees with the world’s largest musical repertory. One of the greatest advantages of the ASCAP license is that it give you the right to perform ANY or ALL of the millions of the musical works in our repertory. Whether your music is live, broadcast, transmitted or played via CD’s or videos, your ASCAP license covers your performances. And with one license fee, ASCAP saves you the time, expense, and burden of contacting thousands of copyright owners.

3. BARRACUDA (Title Code: 320221541)
Writers:
DEROSIER MICHAEL JOSEPH
FISHER ROGER DOUGLAS
WILSON ANN (DUSTIN)
WILSON NANCY (LAMOUREAUX)
WTH is “Heart”?
Exactly how I see it. I cannot believe this is allowed.
They are supposed to be paid a residual for every time the song is played.
That's the way the law used to be, anyhow.
Is this America or the Soviet Union?
The way the protestors acted inside and outside the convention, I'd say the Soviet Union.
Actually, I heard on Rush’s show that he got the message that Chrissie Hynde had no problems with him using the tune, and that she was a fan.
Ummmm.... the band that wrote the song “Barracuda”.
RTFA
It’s moving up the rankings on Amazon:
The song is in the ASCAP catalog so it can be used when an ASCAP License fee is paid. I’m quite sure that’s a standard fee in the contract with the convention center.
Sometimes, lipstick just isn’t enough.
The question though is who owns the Copyright??
Most artists especially from the 70s didn’t own the copyright to their own songs, their record labels did.
If they still hold the copyright, then McCain shouldn’t use it... we’ll just have to use it on our You Tube tributes without their permission.
I saw them live about 30 years ago at the LA Forum. The show was nothing to write home about.
