One minor problem with this - the Texas State Legislature is not currently in session and cannot conduct business.
Unreal!! How many Texans know this? I try to keep up on local politics, but I didn’t not know this.
Also - the last time it was in session was 2007; the next time, barring any special sessions called by the governor, is summer 2009.
I was going to mention that——but do we know when this occurred—if it actually did?
What this looks like is that TBP took advantage of a loophole in the law, not that the Legislature passed a law just for him... unless someone has a citation to the contrary?
Is something like this even constitutional? It is such an abuse of the system to even allow it that it is almost beyond belief.
Boone is big-time long Natural Gas, and with a large influx in supply coming in the next year or two, he is running his natural gas commercials to create demand for the gas he can’t get rid of.
"They did WHAT?!?"
Where is all that money coming from? We only have 3% of the oil reserves?
Wind energy is Half the solution?
Sounds like some one trying to root a place at the Federal tit to me, and willing to spend a lot of some ones' money in the process. Wish I knew whose.
We have mentioned this water business on earlier threads.
I don’t imagine that T. Boone managed to swindle the politicians. I imagine he bought them.
Oldish, but relevant.
Picken’s gall combined with Pelosi’s 22,000 shares of his alternative energy company, multiplied by the fact that she won’t call for a vote on drilling, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Dangerous liasons for the American people to let stand.
I think it's:
"SB 7, which sought to reverse the effect of the U.S. Supreme Courts controversial 2005 decision Kelo v. City of New London."

It’s been discussed here on FR in the past. T Boone is a scam artist and he’s getting a pass. Disgusting. The people of Texas should be very angry at what is going on.
Yea, I agree it's old news but this is definately something I found alarming what with his "good ole boy" commericials fooling America into thinking he has the environment and the peoples best interest in mind.
I understand he wants the eminent domain to run power lines from wind farms in Texas panhandle to Dallas.
This being Texas, he definitely bought the politicians.
As I recall from an earlier thread, those two people were disallowed. He’s probably trying to find another angle to accomplish the same thing. But this first attempt failed.
The next regular session begins January, 2009. Pre-filing of bills will begin shortly after the election in November.
The regular session is limited to 180 days. However, most changes in the law will take effect in September, 2009.
I type corrected - I’d thought (for some reason) that it started in May.
Oh well. Either way, it’s not in session at the current time and has not been for a year.
State Rep. Dan Patrick owns KSEV readio in Houston, who Pat Gray works for, so I would believe what Pat is saying here. I’m no expert on this, but the way I understand it, the Pickens part was buried in a bill at the last minute and most apparently didn’t know it was in there. The state legislature is only in session for a little while every other year (I don’t know exact details), so they go through a ton of bills each day. I wonder what else has been slipped in there without anyone knowing about it.
If I was the Gov, I would call a special session specifically to fix this. I would also make it very public who the slimebags were who put it in there.
Texas is in the process of cleaning out some fatcat Rinos from our state government. Dan is driving this effort.
