The mother of a missing Florida toddler has been released from jail. Casey Anthony walked out of the Orange County Jail on Friday morning, donning an ankle monitoring bracelet and a white T-shirt featuring her 3-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony. She is charged with child abuse and making false statements to investigators.
Caylee was reported missing in mid-July from Orlando. The girl hadn't been seen for a month before Anthony told authorities.
Detectives have said Anthony's trunk had contained a decomposing body and that it was likely her daughter's. However, no other charges have been filed against Anthony.
Prosecutors asked for a high bond, hoping Anthony wouldn't be able to get out. Two local bond agencies posted the $500,000 bond for her Thursday.
Allen Moore, a spokesman for the Orange County jail, said Thursday night that Casey Anthony is required to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet and it takes longer to process such releases, he said.
Earlier this week, investigators said that FBI lab tests and other evidence indicated a decomposing body had been in Casey Anthony's car trunk at some point, and it was likely her daughter's.
Anthony is charged with child abuse and making false statements to investigators, which were filed soon after she reported her daughter missing. Last week, she also was charged with check fraud and theft and returned to jail.
Prosecutors have called her the prime suspect in what appears to be a murder case, but have not filed those charges. Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, has said repeatedly his client doesn't know what happened to her daughter.
"There's always that possibility that at a later date more charges could be brought on her," Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla said Thursday.
The first time Anthony was released, a California bond business paid her bail. Anthony was returned to jail just a week later after sheriff's deputies recommended the new charges. She has posted that required, and much lower, bail, but remained jailed after the bond agency withdrew its money.
The bond was posted by MacDonald Bail Bonds of Kissimmee and by the Von Waldner Bail Bond Agency as a transfer bond from Miller Bonds in Kissimmee, according to a statement from the jail.
At a July hearing, detectives disclosed finding hair strands and a suspicious stain in Anthony's trunk, which had been left for days at a check-cashing business before being towed. Those who went near the car said it smelled of human decomposition.
In Florida, it is unlawful to hold someone without bail on the lesser charges Anthony faces, so prosecutors in July requested a high bond they hoped she couldn't make.
On le loose............
Hurry up and charge her with a crime that will keep her locked up where she belongs!!!!
'Our Hearts Are Breaking': New Photos of Caylee Anthony
Joe Von Waldner, an Orlando bail bondsman, posted Casey Anthony's bond. Von Waldner told ABCNews.com Thursday that he was working on behalf of a surety company which he declined to name, and that he was also working with MacDonald Bail Bonds, which declined to comment.
What the heck is whith that?
Isn’t there any shrink type that could trick this murderer into telling where her baby is buried? After hearing about the chloraform in trunk and speculation she gave it to her so she could party and baby died from it...I can’t believe this nut job is yanking everyone’s chain and getting away with it. The gma is really p———me off with saying if anything happens to the baby it is their fault meaning the guy who came for free to look for her-waht a b——!
The surety company is the company that provides the financial backing for the bail bond. The bail bond company is the ones who handle the paperwork and in effect insures the person shows up for court.............
If you tried to write this as a novel, the editors would throw it out the window............
on the Orlando Sentinel forum where you commented after reading the article a nurse was posting a linking asking users to contact the nursing agency so Cindy ( Casey’s Mom ) would have to get a mental health exam ...
Alot of people are thinking since Casey parent’s George & Cindy used donations to hire a skum hire profile lawyer for themselves instead of finding or searching for Caley they may be proccessed from the RICO Act .
Alot of people think by Cindy washing the bloody pants that Casey wore she should be arrested too for obstruction of justice !
This whole thing is disgusting!
“Shrink types” have the hardest times with these perps. Read “Without Conscience” by Robert Hare.
But why the subterfuge about who ponied up what and why? That’s what I’d like to know.
Are sociopaths even capable of rehabilitation?
A lot of these surety companies are really fronts for private investors. They don’t want their names associated with criminals. Can’t say that I blame them. But it’s a business...........
No, unless God intervenes............
What is this about bloody pants? this is the first I am hearing about those.
There was also a trip that the police took her on to find out where she worked? When did that happen?
Geez this whole family is full of lunatics.
and George Anthony WAS A COP???? We allow people THIS STUPID to be COPS???
Well spoken! The last Chapter of Hare’s book is a survival guide.
Well, somebody ponied up the money. I’m wondering if his/her/their identity/ies and the motivation behind it might provide cops with a clue in the case.
I believe that Cindy & George have been in on this from day one when Caylee died. I believe that they coached her and told her how to dispose of the body. I believe that she took the body out to a remote area, chopped it up (thus the bloody clothes), burned it (the need for the gas cans), and buried the remains (borrowed shovel)...............
I think that they said on Nancy Grace (yeah I watch that sometimes) that someone anonymous had posted her bail. The lawyer has also hired a spokesperson or PR rep too, if I understood correctly.
