This election cylce is smiliar to 1992’s. We had according to the clinton machine the worst economy in 50 years. Yet bill won by just 5, without perot in the race possibly loses. And we were out of the recession by the fourth quarter as well.
Now, we’re not in a recession, the economy grew by 3% in the last quarter. Jobs are a lagging indicator, and will pick up over the next year. Unfortunately, it provides the left with the cover they need to bash tax cuts and Bush. Anyway, unlike 1992 our side has a solution that we’re already promoting, drill here, drill now. If Mccain and the gop are successful in tieing Obama to the negative economy by virture of his oposition to oil exploration and drilling, McCain has a chance of winning.

At the base, center, core, is oil/gas and specifically drilling our very own and readily available resources.
This country cannot continue to send nearly one $trillion/year to foreigners without weakening currency, upping inflation, devaluing housing etc. as personal incomes no longer make this lifestyle affordable.
It's called wealth transfer.
Democrats pursued this strategy of no drilling, no nuclear, coal, for over 25 years.
What does it take, is it unemployment, son's/daughters graduating but no jobs to make people realize this core cause of their declines, namely oil/gas.
Europeans had to learn this lesson and voted the left out of offices in Italy, France, England, Germany.
The U.S has an Obama with the help of Pelosi who told us to drill into our heads, but also at the same time, they confirm this lesson of unemployment, loss of values, as a wake up call and demands for changes of leadership and changes of this Democrat no drilling strategy.

“WASHINGTON — The U.S. jobless rate unexpectedly jumped in August to a nearly five-year high as employment fell for an eighth-straight month, raising the risk of recession as households face a struggling labor market and high inflation.”

FWIW, unemployment is a lagging indicator. The GDP numbers are more important. Productivity numbers are showing that businesses are running ‘lean’ by doing more with less.

It’s even sooner than that. The LibDem media spent 1992 blasting GHW Bush for being out of touch on the economy for not admitting we were in recession in 1992... when the economist reviewed the numbers later, they concluded the recession ended in mid-1991! Overall 1992 growth was good and Q4 1992 was over 4%!

The 1992 performance was a huge media scam to get the Democrats elected.

On FR, they had a business article (bloomberg?) that reviewed the economic data for 2007 and 2008 and concluded that outside of the housing sector, growth has been very good. It further showed that YoY housing declines will stop in a quarter or so. The conclusion was clear: We’ve had a double whammy of oil prices and housing bubble that burst in the past 18 months. That’s playing out now but will not be as negative factor going forward.

“If Mccain and the gop are successful in tieing Obama to the negative economy by virture of his oposition to oil exploration and drilling, McCain has a chance of winning.”

I agree. The economy has issues - but HOW TO FIX IT is the question. If the answer to every problem is bigger Govt, then the USSR would have been the most successful govt on earth.

And I believe much of the growth in the economy during the first part of the clinton years was due to the technology boom, something clinton had nothing to do with.

It is to the Democrats advantage to make sure the economy goes as south as it can in order to win this election. So much for a party that puts America first.

How about a new angle to look at:

Our government run schools have failed. Over 6% of the workforce is now unemployable at ANY wage or benefit level.

Man are you right.

Kids can’t get jobs in restaurants, hotels, or stores anymore they only hire illegals that have no enforceable rights then screw them. They never get a raise or even get paid for the hours they work. They complain and they are fired.

But these rotten employers are never jailed.

What difference is the minimum wage when these jobs all go to illegals anyway?

Get rid of the illegals and the unemployment rate would drop to 4% at least.

Excuse me but I know a little about why they can’t get jobs.

Everywhere my 19 and 20 year olds apply for jobs are told that only illegals are hired in the words you aren’t the type of person were looking for. The type of people working there don’t speak much if any English.

That is why the figure for young adults is so high. Illegals are taking all the jobs at below minimum wage by working off the clock. They all know where to get a fake SSN by the way.

Bullish! No sign of recession here. Everything is peachy. Go back to sleep. We’ll wake you up when the tide goes out... Best economy since WWII. Just the regular doomers and gloomers trying to talk down the economy to get Hitlery elected. After the elections, look for unemployment 2.0%, inflation 1.0%, GDP 50% and Dow 1,000,000. It’s all a shell game folks. Just the MSM and doomers and gloomers talking down a solid, strong, healthy wonderful economy.
