I spend 10 years over there. That is over 3,650 days. A lot of hours and minutes. I was around them all the time. Day in and day out. They loved their jobs on the American Kasarnes. They did not like Americans. Many held old hate from the war years and after wards. Of the amount of Germans that I and some of my close friends encountered, we all spoke of how hate filled towards Americans they were.

I had a very close friend, who had a German wife. They went down to a local German store. They were looking at stuff, and a German worker in the store started to bad mouth Americans, talking dirt, cursing these two while they stood shopping yet was smiling at them while she did it. Finally, my friend's wife went over and spoke German to her and told her she heard every word and wanted to see the store manager. She told the manager about it and the manager was like ho hum, Americans come in here all the time and are mean, hateful and rude. Sure, we were the problem. Not the Germans. I got sick of hearing how Americans were the problem, and the good Germans were not. This is only one incident. There were many others over the years. MANY!
