Former First Lady Nancy Reagan is not attending this weeks Republican convention but her son, Ron, is. Newsweek.coms Tammy Haddad and her TamCam caught up with the son of the Republican icon. You can watch it HERE and hear Reagan describe his mothers fondness for the current Democratic nominee.
John McCain and my mother have known each for years and years. Her parents, and Cindy McCains parents go way back in Phoenix, Arizona. Shes grateful to John McCain for standing with her on the issue of stem cells and, of course, has officially endorsed him. Shes fine with John McCain, as I said, theyve been friends for a long time."
I can tell you though that shes also very impressed with Barack Obama...shes just impressed by his demeanor, is not just that hes an eloquent guy and a guy who gives a good speech, a lot of people said that about my father too. But she sees through that. Shes been around a long time and she looks at Barack Obama and she sees the words, hears the words and she perceives character there. She thinks this is a good guy, a guy who means well and is a strong character, Reagan said.
And Ron, who has rarely shared the political perspective of his parents, had this to say about Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin is in no way qualified to be vice president or certainly president. John McCain is a 72 year old cancer survivor, not just any cancer, melanoma. Not just any melanoma, melanoma above the neck. It was his obligation to choose somebody who could realistically step into the big chair and Sarah Palin is not that person.

I don’t believe a word out of Ron’s mouth.
It’s been slow again for most of the day for me.
Nancy probably saw Obama and said “He seems like a nice young man” and Ron Jr. has turned it into practically an endorsement.
So in other words Ron, you are trying to say that your Mom really endorses Obama, right. Ummkay. Back to doing whatever it is you do gollum and please stop putting words into your elderly Mom’s mouth, thanks.
Only a small person would refer to it as "the big chair". Maybe it was just Ron Jr's persepective.
Thank you.
I’m not having trouble, but there may be an increase in traffic due to the RNC Convention. Do you have dial up? When I had dial up, FR was sometimes quite slow.
Fairy tales can come true...Ron it happened to you...
Yea, right!
Is there something in the drinking water in Calif. that causes so many residents to make mind numbed statements.
Maybe it is something in the air.
Whatever it is, I want them to keep it on the left coast.

I hope the mic was held for Ron. Jr. I’m sure his limp wrists couldn’t support the weight.
Nancy saying she is impressed with someone is not an endorsement, in spite of what Jr. wants people to think.
If she recalls, the same media that are trashing Sarah and her daughter now, trashed her own daughter in the ‘80s.

I’d wager Mrs. Reagan was clapping profusely tonight for Sarah and Rudy. Just because her son says she thinks Obama is a good man doesn’t mean she supports him for President.
Geez. Whatta non-story.
Thank you, I thought maybe it was just me. When I hit post it takes me to a blank page and stalls there.
I lost all respect for Ron Jr. when he had an old girlfriend of mine evicted from her Lower East Side apartment. No apologies, no consideration, just “Get out!” on the grounds that his personal security required that he and his pretend wife needed a big space!
True story
No, I’m on cable.
“But she sees through that. Shes been around a long time and she looks at Barack Obama and she sees the words, hears the words and she perceives character there.”
I couldn’t agree more. It would take quite a creative imagination.
The only “wishful thinking” re. his mom on Ron Jr.’s part is the sad ralization that he is too big to fit into any of her cute outfits.
The tu-tu boy is a prize jerk.
I wish we would see more of Michael than that loser Ron.
No doubt Ron would prefer to be impenetrated by Obama...
Amen and I was hoping maybe we would see Michael Reagan at the Convention.
