[Peggy] Noonan, [Mike] Murphy trash Palin on hot mic: 'It's over'
Politico ^ | Sep 3, 2008 | Ben Smith

Posted on 09/03/2008 1:45:52 PM PDT by Alter Kaker

After a segment with NBC's Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live mic ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.

"It's over," said Noonan, and then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.

"The most qualified? No. I think they wen tfor this-- excuse me -- political bullshit about narratives," she said. "Everytime Republicans do that -- because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at and they blow it."

Murphy chimed in:

"The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical."

In today's Wall Street Journal, Noonan was warmer to Palin, whom she wrote "could become a transformative political presence."

"The Sarah Palin choice is really going to work, or really not going to work," Noonan wrote. "It's not going to be a little successful or a little not; it's not going to be a wash. She is either going to be magic or one of history's accidents. She is either going to be brilliant and groundbreaking, or will soon be the target of unattributed quotes by bitter staffers shifting blame in all the Making of the President 2008 books."

Since filing, Noonan has apparently decided which side this one is coming down on.

Peggy is smart and articulate, but supremely self absorbed. Other women aren’t supposed to outshine her. Ol’ green-eyed monster attack.

thanks a lot Peggy Noonan. we’re 5-6 points down before the convention, before anyone really even knows SP and you get scared by MSM into disprespecting a great if relatively unknown candidate. I like Mitt and Tim, but I bet they’re both glad they are not being vetted by MSM now-can you really believe the MSM has “less’ on them?. for the rest of us this election will make a big difference and we’d appreciate your all the heart and talent you have

Peggy Noonan is over at MSNBC for a reason. She is irrelevent everywhere else. She always speaks and behaves as though she is just feeling the effects of her second glass of wine.

Murphy is an Obama supporter, who quit the McCain camp when Obama was certain to be the nominee, because he refused to oppose Obama.

I believe you are confusing Murphy with Mark McKinnon:

Mike Murphy reminds me of a parody of a used car or timeshare salesman. I wouldn’t trust him to tell me the time of day honestly. His picture is next to “Sleazeball” in the dictionary.

"Noonan is a northeastern snob who wants friendship within the media elite more than principal."

Let's hope she enjoys her retirement -- because it started today.

It really does help to hear it, doesn’t it?

I agree with you on almost all points, except that I thought that Mike Murphy worked for Romney this year. I wondered if he wasn’t “carrying water” for Romney with his comments. I might be wrong though.

I don’t think that Palin was necessarily the most experienced, but that doesn’t mean she might not be just fine. I’m working it over in my mind right now, looking forward to her speech tonight, and to what the next few weeks will bring.

I don't know. What I listened to didn't seem clear what they were talking about. They may not even know what they were talking about. I'll chalk it up as the MSM making a mountain out of a mole hill. Just my opinion.

OMG...You are right-—those are her new friends. Now, aren’t they just so special? Hope she has a fine time with Whoopi.

The election should be a referendum on Barack Obama.

And that would give the game away, by making it Barack's to lose. The MSM would quickly play down and cover up any gaffe BHO made. And BHO could play kill-the-clock and win.

Only by getting the buzz away from Barack does McCain force BHO to get off from the same old boring stuff. And then the chance for a big gaffe gets stronger.

This is a referendum on how the two Pres candidates make decisions. And McCains VP decision is getting the buzz. He wins this round.

Nope. Peggy is a conservative. She’s also a bitch. But don’t try to paint her as some kinda liberal masquerading as a conservative. She’s been a loyal Republican all these years but now apparently she’s being a bit prissy. I wonder how long she’s been saying stuff like this.

These two, Noonan and Murphy, are traitors to their Party and their Nation. If they can’t support the ticket of the Republican Party, they should be expelled from the Party. Let them go to their friends, the liberal, socialist Democrats.

Suffice to say, “Peggy Noonan is a New York City columnist.”

As Charles de Gaulle once said of Marshall Petain, the French hero of WWI but who subsequently became the stooge of Adolf Hitler, “He used to be a great man.”

Fair enough, but I revere anyone close to the Gip, just as I revere him, despite not knowing him obviously. Sorry, but it’s the one area where I get all mushy. She sure has turned into a two-faced snake though.
