A TIME-WARPED SEXIST ASSAULT (Palin defense)
NY Post ^ | 9/3/08 | Andrea Peyser

Posted on 09/03/2008 6:58:06 AM PDT by Roberts

HOLY hoop skirts: When did the clock tick back to 1958?

When Joe Biden tragically lost his wife and infant daughter in a car wreck in 1972, not a single colleague, friend or competitor advised him to quit his newly won Senate seat to raise his two little surviving sons.

Rather, he was sworn into office from the injured boys' bedside, and took to commuting an hour and a half each way from Delaware to Washington. And when Biden's second wife gave birth to a daughter, no one thought to ask him to step aside and stay home.

They all do it. John Kennedy did it; so did Barack Obama: Men run for office and serve in elected positions while creating small children without ever being patronized as "super dads" or "multi-taskers."

Nor are they penalized, ridiculed or dismissed for ignoring their kids. They're good dads.

If Sarah Palin, tapped as John McCain's running mate, were a man, it's unlikely we'd even be having this conversation. (A man, or a Democrat.)

Palin is a mother five times over. She also hunts, fishes, coaches hockey, has a day job as the governor of the state of Alaska - and is known to commute home from the state capital of Anchorage daily during session. Just like Biden.

But women on the left, who fought long and hard for the ability to raise children simultaneously with election cash, are in spasms. (Some have simply kept silent. Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton - where are you?)

The same lefty media that studiously ignored the adolescence of Chelsea Clinton can't wait to dig into Bristol Palin.

D’oh...Andrea, I’ve never been to Alaska and even I know the state capital is *Juneau*, not Anchorage.

Great piece other than that.

In those days men and women had clear cut roles.

The Dad worked and Mom stayed at home with the kiddies. If something happened to Mom, typically family stepped in or a Nanny was found. Today we have gender swapping roles - Mr. Mom etc. .

NOW. Take this same words and insert something different, and you can see the hypocacy drip all over this issue:

-"...He also hunts, fishes, coaches hockey, has a day job as the governor of the state of Alaska - and he is known to commute home from the state capital of Anchorage daily during session. Just like Biden."

Wrong! Juneau!

My hubby came up with this same thought days ago. I’m so glad he said it, and so glad someone else put it in print.

Andrea Peyser is often very lefty and offensive, but even she seems to be a little ticked off by the Dems’ insane, hypocritical assualt on women. I hope she’s not the only one!

I wouldn't call her a lefty, in the screeching Hillary or Obama camp. She's more generally milquetoast middle, pimping guys like McCain or Bloomberg.

Last night on Public Television, Gwen Ifil was interviewing two Republican women, an ex-governor and an ex-deputy governor. Gwen was totally bent on snarking about Palin and her daughter, but the Republican women were sweetly upbraiding her for speaking sexist and discriminatory ideas. Ifil sunk behind her desk in frustration at not being able to unsettle the R execu-babes.

An excellent point! I'd also like to pull some of the media articles raving about Elizabeth Edwards' decision to continue campaigning with John Edwards after her diagnosis of cancer and despite the time it took away from her young children. And were there any suggestions by the media that perhaps John Edwards ought to stay home with his family at that time? It would make for an interesting compare-and-contrast...

I wish Sarah would shout from the mountaintop that the real sexists and discriminators are in the Democrat Party.

Well, Sarah Palin can take comfort: that great Lefty fish-n-chips wrapper The New Zealand Herald has weighed in:

"Editorial: Palin's Face Just Doesn't Fit"

A landslide victory is thereby assured!

Look: Tuesday, the NY Times had 3 (three!) articles about Bristol Palin's pregnancy--- plastered all over Page One.

This morning, the Today show featured on a straight-faced discussion that perhaps mommies should just stay home minding the babies rather than presuming to run for office.

Think of Obama's comment about girls being "punished with a babies" --- with an ironic twist.

The only people who are punishing women for babies, in this instance, are the activists of the Left: publicly humiliating 17-year-old Bristol Palin in the press; and, if that's not enough, gunning to have the uppity grandmother, mother-of-handicapped-infant and VP candidate Sarah Palin, shamed and driven from public life.

Apparently the easiest way to marginalize a woman is by Scarlet-Lettering her for the ultimate sexual transgression: having a baby.

A live baby.

I have a lot more to say, but I'm probably too angry to say it right now. Let me say I'm just floored by the viciousness of it all.

I know I'm not the only one who sees it this way.

Instead he was banging a member of his campaign team, but that's ok with the Dems, too...it's a private matter, dontcha know....

real sexists and discriminators = Democrats

Democrats are also racists.

There is NOTHING progressive about the Democrat Party.

Obama is all about the failed ideas of Communists and Socialists.

If he wants to be the Savior of American Blacks then he needs to get them off welfare, get them a proper education, make them get jobs, make the Dads take responsibility for their children, and stop making excuses for their bad behaviors.

And, that goes for other people who find themselves in the welfare farce.

Welfare is a method of keeping the ill-educated people down.
