US accused of attack in Pakistan that kills 20

The US military was accused today of having sent a force of commandos across the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan on a raid in which 20 people were reportedly killed, including women and children.

Both Nato and the separate US-led coalition in Afghanistan denied any knowledge of the pre-dawn attack, which local residents said involved both American and Afghan troops backed by helicopter gunships.

But it was immediately seen as both undermining sovereignty and presenting a challenge to the coalition govermnet led by Yousuf Raza Gillani, the object of an unsuccessful assassination in Rawalpindi this morning.

"It is outrageous," Owais Ahmed Ghani, the governor of North West Frontier province, said in a statement on the incursion. "This is a direct assault on the sovereignty of Pakistan and the people of Pakistan expect that the armed forces of Pakistan would rise to defend the sovereignty of the country and give a befitting reply."

Still having a hard time with this.

Just tell me, as a civilian, would I be more likely to get killed in a WW2 France combat zone or in the Afgan combat zone?

I know the answer.

The attack took place near Angor Adda in the South Waziristan region, a known sanctuary for al-Qaeda and Taleban militants.

Amazing how the tribal mentality here in the US or abroad can only see the guilt of others and never their own part in causing the actions.

These idiots don't realize that this is happening so that we don't have to kill 20 million.

If those big, brave, he-man terrorists would stop hiding behind women and children...

Notice the ‘reportedly’. This is not confirmed by anyone, just thrown up into the global media maw by one outlet in the worldwide LSM. And as rumor, no less.

Hannity may well be right about the death of journalism.

Has Obama already assumed control of the Executive Branch?

I thought he was ready to attack Pakistan?

"Remind me again, how many civilians got killed in WW2?"

Or in Russia's recent foray into S. Ossetia and Georgia, where killing civilians didn't seem to matter to these same so-called "American" reporters

Since the US military doesn't have any "commandos" I say this is a bunch of Bravo Sierra.

*** What about TF121? ***

I was being a tad facetious and mocking the Brit newspaper. To them every specialized Combat Arms unit is a "Commando".

But I guess/think the Navy SEALS would be the closest we have to a true 'Commando' unit - in Brit tyerms. I discount DELTA Force as all their 'stuff' is Top Secret. And the Green Berets - though a bunch of kick as Snake Eaters - besides them being a Force Multiplier are into a lot of Hearts and Minds stuff, so they wouldn't be true 'commandos'.

In the 'olden days' if you called a Green Beret a 'Commando' you'd get hit upside the head. (US Army Special Forces, for those that don't know)

OOPS, on second thought the Army Rangers might fit the 'commando' definition.

Just for the record...

...by the conclulsion of WWII, the total number of dead — military, and civilian — was about 50,000,000.

FIFTY MILLION!!

And these modern panty-waists want to raise Cain about a couple of hundred civvies, and ~3500 troops?

HA!

People get all up-in-arms about ~5000 dead in Iraq over the past few years...there’s a total lack of perspective. And not just by comparison of the present with the past, either. There’s crisis yet to come that will absolutely DWARF anything we’ve seen before.

Wait until the events prophesied in Revelation chapter 6 become Breaking News; the world-wide death toll will exceed 2,500,000,000, and will be comprised MOSTLY of civilians claimed by a combination of military action, famine, and disease. 2.5 BILLION!! One fourth of the population of planet Earth!!

It simply staggers the mind; it can’t be comprehended.

And yet we’ve got people in this country stirred up into a seething outrage over 1/500,000th that number??

Pakistan is sliding into chaos. Recent reports are that Taliban are freely moving around in-country, and back-and-forth from Afghanistan. This is because Pakistan refuses to handle the situation.
