KCGOP
SEATTLE - The King County Republican Party reports that their booth at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival was vandalized Sunday evening.
The vandals tore open the closed tent, flipped over the table holding candidates' literature and set parts of the display on fire. A person at a neighboring booth saw the flames and extinguished them before more damage was done.
The KCGOP says this is the first time in five years at the festival that their booth has had an incident of vandalism.
"There is just no room for this type of behavior in an important year such as this one," said King County GOP Chairman Lori Sotelo. "This incident sadly obscures what has otherwise been a great experience for us at Bumbershoot."
No suspects have been identified.
The tolerant left strikes again.
Every year there's something on the closing day....some years it's shootings, sometimes this, but always involving thuggery.
It seems that it's almost come to the point where residents around the Seattle Center area should take note of the habit of New Orleans residents who leave town during Mardi Gras.
That's not vandalism. That's destruction of property and inciting a riot.
The signature of the Left.
Agreed. The last time I went was years and years ago, and only because I wanted to see Tina Turner.
The sound system was tiny and pathetic and completely unsuited for the size of the building and the crowd.
The crowd was milling around during the performance, only half-interested.
It was a complete waste of time and money and I felt sorry for Tina. She puts a lot into every show and I was embarrassed at the disrespect she was shown by both the crowd and the organizers.
I've never gone to Bumbershoot again and I avoid that entire area of town even more than usual on Labor Day weekend.
They have a habit of calling other people the things that they in fact are.
(BTW, on an unrelated point....one of the happiest moments I've had here at FR was when I was in a thread about something pertaining to Ireland and a passionate, full-throated IRA supporter called me a 'fascist' for suggesting that people who support terrorist groups such as the IRA online should be reported to the FBI. He's still quite active here on FR by the way, but hasn't been cheerleading for the IRA anymore from what I've seen "snicker")
I wonder if the people who set the Republican booth on fire wore brown shirts?
The modern brownshirt is an Obama or a Che! t-shirt, accented by foodstains, a rainbow flag pin, a PETA button and Birkenstocks.
Thank you so very much for volunteering and for putting up with that. It certainly sends an impression of Seattle that the Left seems to have no problem with at all.
Utter trash.
I did get a Bush Christmas card for the next two years and I got invited to a private send off when he flew out of Boeing field once - so I guess it all was worth it.
That's wonderful! Congratulations! :-)
These are quite likely the same folks who favor the institution of the "Fairness" doctrine because the public and advertisers have no interest in hearing what they have to say.....so their answer is to force talk radio off the air and burn down Republican political booths.
Very nice, really gets the point across.
And of course the Dem headquarters, signs and booths were similarly damaged, right?
No? Hmmmm....it must be that evil rightwing media that's covering it all up then, huh?
Democrats: The party of hard-Left politics, violence, thuggery and crime in all forms.
Me too :-)
I suppose I am just too much of an uncultured person to be able to understand the deep and profound philosophical points that these Soldiers of Tolerance and Peace were making.
Perhaps these are the "educated" Democrat voters who wouldn't cross over to support Sarah Palin, as stated today by Andrea Mitchell of NBC.
To top it off, even if they had caught the people committing the vandalism, nothing would happen to them. Remember the WTO riots? Seattle ended up paying around $1 million for violation of the rights of the rioters.
Little Red Guards... I think we can lay a great deal of the blame for this on our public school system. And then it is propped up by the mainstream media.
They just let the guy out who shot up Folklife!

Well, what years is there room?
Well, what years is there room?
A lame, limp, pathetic statement for sure. Sounds like something an elementary school teacher might say to a mildly errant troublemaker, not something that an injured party should say about a politically-motivated felony.
Arson was a felony, last time I checked.
And because of the political motivation, would it qualify as a hate crime as well?
Quite likely if it had been a Dem booth, most unlikely since it's a GOP booth.
Just dirtier, far less disciplined and with poorer weapons.
I think we can lay a great deal of the blame for this on our public school system. And then it is propped up by the mainstream media.
Perhaps it's overdue to begin referring to the Seattle Public Schools as 'madrassas'.
BOTH are excellent points, my dear Stoat!
awwww...(((((blushing)))))
