McCain camp rebukes Democrat claims Published: 09/01/2008
The McCain camp rebuked claims by Democrats that Sarah Palin once associated with Pat Buchanan.
"Governor Palin has never worked for any effort to elect Pat Buchanan -- that assertion is completely false," Michael Goldfarb, a spokesman for the presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), told ABC over the weekend in discussing Palin, the Alaska governor and vice presidential choice.
On Aug. 29, the Democratic Party issued a release quoting U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) as saying that McCain's pick was a "direct affront to all Jewish Americans" because of reports of Palin's past associations with Buchanan, who has long postulated that the pro-Israel lobby is inordinately influential and that Hitler might have been contained through peaceful means.
Wexler's comments appear based on a 1999 report that Palin wore a Buchanan button during Buchanan's visit to Wasilla, the town she then led as mayor. At that time, however, Palin had written a letter to the local paper explaining that she wore campaign buttons as a matter of courtesy when candidates came to visit the town.
Palin was an official of the campaign of Steve Forbes, who like Buchanan was contending for the Republican presidential nomination.
Buchanan said he recalls meeting Palin at a 1996 fund-raiser in Alaska, but no record of her donating or supporting Buchanan at that time has surfaced.
bump
Good for the McCain campaign: hit back hard and fast.
Well heck...I've got an "I Like Ike!" button and a Spiro Agnew watch. Does that mean I can't run for office?

JTA is very important as JTA articles are published in most jewish newspapers. It’s like the Jewish AP or Reuters
What’s wrong with supporting Pat Buchanan? I supported Steve Forbes in 1996, hence the username, but Buchanan was my second choice.
I remember those days, indeed.
it would completely turn off jewish voters and that’s what Wexler was trying to do
Thank you for that information!
Some of Buchanan’s views are offensive to Jewish voters. Jewish voters are leery of the Obambi and are considering McCain, and there’s no point in discouraging them with a lie like this one of Wexler’s. IIRC, Wexler is a cheat, too; he doesn’t even live in his own district.
besides, it’s just not true and needs to be corrected whether you love Pat or not.
In the end, Pat loves her, Chabad loves her, everyone is happy.
She's going to be disparaged between now and the election. If we somehow win this thing, they'll turn her into a joke like they did with Quayle. She is a threat to them and must be kept from national approval, if not power. The commies only promote their own with fawning and gushing.
Look at what Thomas went through to get on the SC, with Biden one of the chief accusers. They've never stopped hating him for a moment since, even though they didn't beat him.
I am sorry but I thought that chivalry called for a response over the weekend or earlier today. They made 7-10 million over the weekend and better have some darn good ads out by tomorrow.
McCain's 'civil campaign' (while they play HARDBALL) will give us President B. Hussein Obama.
You’re right; I didn’t notice that the dem talking point was dated 8/29/08. I thought it had just happened.
Hey, I still have my 1996 Alan Keyes button and I'm not giving it up!
Another reason I like Palin. I also liked Steve Forbes.
Palin is old enough to have made her choice. We can help, though. When you see something on the internet that you know isn’t right — or even something suspicious — don’t just ignore it. Challenge it. We can take them down, even if we do it one at a time.
Oh, I know it can be done. Stay vigilant!
